IYO do you think there is a young (under45 years of age) Evangelical leader on the scene today that will impact this nation in this generation as the D L Moody, Billy Sunday, Mordecia Hamm and Billy Graham has in the 150 years. I will define leader as one who exposes all the core doctrines. If not do you think there will ever be one?

I dont know if he meets your age parameter, but possibly Albert Mohler, if he were to be out there in the public eye a bit more.

Dr. Mohler has the intellectual firepower, and seems willing to use it. And he doesn't live in an ivory tower of academe, even though that's his bailiwick--the seminary. He has his feet firmly on the ground.

And he knows how to negotiate the political minefields in the SBC.

Dr. Mohler is not a spellbinding pulpiteer, but he's pretty good. I think the legacy he will have is as a defender of the faith against attack--particularly defending conservative theology.

The fact that he is a unashamed Calvinist will not sit well with some folks; but it will sit just fine with others.

I'm not sure if we will see someone like a Billy Graham again.

He did find fame by being on the ABC Radio network- Now we have hundreds of Christians stations with numerous Bible teachers - just too many to choose from - in addition there is much division in the evangalical community -(which includes the Fundies)

Personally there are two that I like
    1) Dr Robert Jeffress, First Baptist, Dallas
    2) Dr Jack Graham, Prestwood Bap, Plano, Tx

Do we really need another celebrity "preeeeecher"? I think not... the church would benefit most by a generation of well equipped disciple-makers who take the Great Commission seriously and live it every day.

I don't need Billy Graham to do what Jesus has commanded me to do.

Billy Graham was a gospel preacher. As far as personally making disciples and taking the Great Commission to the world your self it is not an either or proposition.

Of course, you are able to witness without Billy or some other name - But...

    1) we live in a culture that insists on celebrities(even political elections are nothing more than name recognition)
    2) Our job is hard enough, so any help should be gladly accepted
    3) we may not be able to win everyone to Christ - we may only plant a seed and if a "celebrity" is the one to bring that individual to Christ - Praise the Lord
    4) Some will never darken the door of a church, but if Billy is on TV, well they may endure an hour and listen (lets face it folks, nobody in the secular world can find anything wrong with the way Billy operates (at least since that Atlanta Journal editorail cartoon decades ago)

Rcently, I have been reading this book entitled "The Beginning of the IFB movement", written by the founder of that movement
...so when ZNN announced that this cocky Apostle Paul was coming to Decopolais I told my congregation (all 3 members) that we don't need any outside evangelist to do what Jesus has commanded us to do ...

No but not because of age. because i believe that we are in the end part of the last days that the church will continue to fall away ignoring the scriptures doing their own thing and that there will be no one who will make any impact on the church overall.
I believe that we are going to see what scripture says instead.
    2Tim 4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

You can clearly see it on this board as people post telling what they believe with total disregard to what scripture says using the excuse that they interpret is differently instead of just believing what is written.

Yes, I am glad you brought that up- just let me know what week of the month your church observes Mark 16:17-18. Those are the weeks I will avoid visiting:rolleyes:

Friend you are welcome to attend to not attend when ever you want. I think you would find the church I attend most agreeable with your liberal unbiblical way.

    Free at last...

    Bzzzz... (((FAIL)))

Just because someone has a different conviction then you does not mean that they are ignoring "what the scripture says" My convictions come strait from the scriptures, as I assume everyone elses do as well...even when they disagree with me.

This seems to be a common tactic on this board. Usually in the Calvinist debates.
