Liberty School of Law only University in VA with 100 percent BAR passage rate...

Yes, it really is awesome, possibly without precedent at any law school. I'm guessing that Liberty does not have an affirmative action policy.

 

How many Liberty Law grads took the test, and how many took it for the first time?

California schools have had some 100% passages on the baby bar required of all rising 2Ls

What's this fascination with George Mason? I think it's more prestigious to beat UVa.

 

It may be, but UVA is elite. Curiously, Jerry Falwell, Jr., the current chancellor of Liberty is a UVA-Law grad.

 

You may also be thinking of Georgetown or George Washington. You couldn't fill Montana with the Washington types who went to those law schools.

GM is nothing to sneeze at (a top 50 school) but it's not on UVa or Georgetown's level.

US News usually has it around 40-45. By contrast, UVa is top 10, Georgetown and GW are top 15. GM and American are top 50.

I dunno if this qualifies me as a "lawyerly type," but I was on my way to law school before God and seminary called (all the best ministers/theologians were law school aspirants like Wesley, Mohler, Calvin, etc.) I still run in those circles and even explored law school again a few years ago.

My wife is still scared to death I'll go back and do a JD for fun. I love that Beeson and Liberty now have dual JD/M.Div degrees.

If I remember right, GM is more known for its school of communications/journalism. I know several reporters and broadcasters who went to George Mason.

Here are the most recent results (from the July exam); of Va. schools, Liberty Law was dead last (only 48% passed it).

 

That does make sense Jerome. However, in defense of Liberty's law school, it is only a few years old.

 

There is a lot of concern, among alums and administrators, that Liberty has been pushing too many students (particularly those unqualified) into their Law school. Thus the quality and focus on those who are graduating with their JDs isn't the same as for the first set of exam takers.

That said, I'm sure they'll be a bit more contrite about releasing these results.

It will be interesting to see how this works itself out in the next several years. Usually it takes more than a year or two to see the real impact of a law school. Liberty has some opportunity, but also alot of hubris. Having been around a lot of students and faculty not too long ago they were definitely excited about what they were doing. I do however wonder if their reasons for doing it were more about bucking the system than anything else.

The truth of the matter is that Liberty is, right now, a bottom tier school and it will take a couple of years to move it beyond that. Hopefully this new result will offer a reasonable corrective.

Man oh man, I'm glad ministers don't have to take any kind of test like the bar exam...imagine what that would look like...(acctually I'm for a rigorous licensing test for ministers...but that is neither here nor there)

Hey, law school and the bar are hard, passing is not for the weak minded at almost any level. Spinning the facts only lessens the actual achievement of those who passed.
