As I predicted in my post on Sunday, May 1, early polls show Obama getting a bump of no less than eleven points in national polls taken today.

I believe the revelation of a birth certificate and the capture and killing of UBL (within days of each other) will probably even reap him more points as additional details come out about his pivotal role in calling the shots that led to this great historical moment in America's war against terror!

I just want to add, that Obama's decision to take out UBL was monumental, considering his campaign promises to close Gitmo, and end torture type interrogation methods.

As this whole thing unfolds before the public, it looks like the torture techniques approved by the Bush administration led us to the courier, and eventually UBL.

Maybe, Obama will reconsider his stance against torture, just as he has on closing Gitmo, and not holding Military Tribunals?

I give Obama "kudos" for making some reversals in policy, which led him to Sundays killing of Bin Laden. Had he followed through with his pre-election mind set and promises, we may not have seen this day.

The guy finally showed some of the courage it takes to be Commander-in-Chief, and for that I salute him! Let's just pray he stays on the course, as there are going to be many tougher decisions to make. At least he didn't demand that the SEALS read UBL his Maranda Rights before they took the action they took to take out an evil man.

God Bless America, and Keep Her Strong, :godisgood:

    Believe me, it's temporary.

He's doing too much damage to the economy and the international prestige of the U.S. to stay up for long.

His numbers will be back in the toilet soon enough. Watch W's approval ratings at 9-11, then watch how they sunk...especially when going after Iraq. I wonder if Libya will be Obama's Iraq? I think people are to dumb to understand what he and his employees are doing to the economy. W ran MASSIVE deficits and the electorate didn't seem to care.

In case you haven't noticed, I dislike both sides of the aisle equally.

You mean there's actually two sides of the aisle? Couldn't tell it by looking at the amazing continuity of core polices from administration to administration.

Whether it be the R's or D's in power they always seem to stay the same and keep moving forward.

I know, I know just coincidence.

I agree that Obama will get a bump. But remember, Bush seemed unbeatable after the Gulf War victory at roughly the same time of year in 1991. If the economy continues to sputter, and the GOP nominates someone with gravitas, the '12 General should be close

I'd prefer the GOP nominated someone with real morals and priniciples that can't be sold off to the highest bidder instead of gravitas. But I highly doubt that's ever going to happen.

It's all about the economy. If the economy is doing well next summer, President Obama will be reelected. Although, there are signs that the economy is now starting to recover. I hope it continues to do well. That way we all profit and President Obama gets another term in the White House. It's will be a win-win!

BO said we didn't need to 'spike the football'. Can't help but notice how he's following his own advice.

What are the signs that the economy is improving?

    I don't see it.

There are modest gains in employment numbers. However, a decline in the unemployment rate doesn't mean there are more people working. It just means there are less applying for/accepting unemployment benefits. You have to look at all the data. Bad economic data came out this week as well. Let's see what happens when the Fed stops their bond purchase in the summer. It is indeed Obama's economy now. Right or wrong, he will be blamed/praised for what happens, his fault or not. I still maintain that if the Republicans nominate someone serious, Mr. Obama is in trouble if gas is $4-$5 a gallon.

I still can't believe the GOP field hasn't ballooned yet. You'd think there would be a dozen or more already declared. I suspect you'll see this happen within the next month, and then in earnest starting in the fall.

Perhaps you don't want to see it. I know that the manufacturing sector here in the Houston area has improved. There are many more jobs available to qualified people.

You are correct, the economy has improved. Even Fox news has reported this.

So your impression that the manufacturing sector in your local area is improving is a sign that the national economy is improving?

You said that there were "signs" that the economy - normally meaning the national economy - is improving.

So what signs do you see?

    Improved real unemployment numbers? No

    A stronger housing market? No

    Less expensive gas? No

    So what is it?

I'll find the link. NBC announced last night the Obama got only a 3 point bump overall. His foreign policy numbers took a huge leap, but his handling of the economy continues to weigh him down as well as "shares our values."

He is in trouble. If the GOP nominates someone with gravitas, the President is in trouble.
