It seems like a new thread is started every five minutes on this.

(I know that this could be considered one, but I'm not asking anything about the validity of either system, only the discussion of them.)

Anyone tired of posts from people saying they are tired of threads they don't have to open and read if they don't want to? ;)

This is true, but unless one is obsessed with this type of discussion many would like to see and speak to other aspects of the scriptures, and not just always on a limited and narrow field of discussion.

While this is a debate board, it does not have to center primarily nor almost exclusively around the C/A debate.

Are you a liberal or a conservative? If you're a liberal you probably want the admins to step in and get control over things to limit what topics are introduced.

If you're a conservative you probably trust the market to police itself through supply and demand. If people want to talk about Cal/Arm they will respond and the threads will grow and continue. If they don't they will go away.

There is nothing preventing anyone from opening new threads with whatever theological topic they desire, and there is nothing keeping any member from "speaking to other aspects of the scriptures." The only thing that "narrows" the field is the market, which is the way it should be. If you, or anyone else, doesn't wish to engage you don't even have to open the thread since the title typically clearly reveals the subject matter.

    Just my perspective. :type:

I'll take the road less traveled apparently, and state I'm a believer who holds to the extremes of neither group, liberal nor conservative. Scripture shows we should hold to both views as each has their proper place and time, with proper understanding.

And while the market of itself narrows the field that field can be over run so that no matter what else is placed in there, it is rarely if ever seen but pushed to back. Additionally, I believe those who are either dedicated to or even potentially obsessed with the C/A can treat their brethren with respect and courtesy by backing off for bit and letting others feel more free to open threads without fear of it being side tracked once again to a C/A debate. This of course is just my opinion. It is not just the thread itself that is the issue but that no matter the thread, it get turned into a C/A debate. And while that can't be helped at times, it can be acknowledge regarding the difference of views and then continue on with what the OP desired to speak to in the first place. Derailing a thread is very easy to do, and I'm just as guilty as the next guy, but it can be avoided and stopped once attention has been drawn to it.

Many here are not overly educated, theologically established, or trained ministers and for their sakes, the rest of us need to allow these others to breathe and ENJOY the site to which they desired to be apart of initially. There is SO much other stuff to speak to and of that C/A 'can' take a back seat for while, no?

I really think the proper question is "Are you a Good Listener?"

People are telling you they are tired of the "same old same old"

The CA/ARM debate is why I came here, hoping to get answers so my opinion is obviously biased toward wanting to discuss this subject even more. I hope this passes soon for me, trust me!

The problem is that we do not end up discussing much of anything else.

Yup. I just wanted to respond directly.

I think it was better back when we had a C/A debate forum years ago. It kept the C/A threads from overtaking the Theology forum.

Not exactly "tired" but I cringe inwardly when a human being other than Jesus Christ is exalted whether C or A or anyone else.

Rather than use the name of a mortal, fallible human being, why not quote the Scripture related to one's position concerning election?

    e.g.

Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

If someone has a problem then they should make their scriptural case for human responsibility:

    e.g.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Many of the C/A "debates" we see (IMO) are unbecoming of Christian brethren and send a confusing message to onlookers.

I'm tired of it. That's why I don't post much anymore. (Which may make some of you happy. :))

Right now there are NINE threads on Calvinism running in this section of the board alone. This doesn't count all the other threads that Calvinism creeps into and hijacks the topics.

    Please make it stop! :BangHead:
