I was not aware of this man until this morning when I saw him on Fox, but I liked several of his positions he spoke about. I would have to learn much more about him, but so far I am favorably impressed.

Are his pizzas any good? It's hard to get a decent pizza west of Chicago and north of New Jersey.

    Herman Cain.

    http://www.hermancain.com/index.asp

    He is a pro-life candidate

    http://www.lifenews.com/2011/03/15/h...z-attacks-him/

If the news can spread about him and he can win the nomination he can win. The life news article starts this way: "During a presentation before a set of conservative bloggers in the nation’s capital today, likely Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, a pro-life businessman, bashed the Planned Parenthood abortion business — which went after him in return."

I voted that he does not look like a good candidate. He might make a decent president, though. I would vote for him over Obama, but he seems a bit reckless. Case in point: he stated off the cuff that he would not appoint a Muslim to his cabinet or to the bench. He eventually backtracked a bit, but he did not handle it well.

Instead of just saying "No", a more polished candidate could have deflected the criticism while also getting his point across.

Cain so much as admitted that his issue wasn't the Muslim religion per se but the implementation of Sharia law.

This is how he could have handled it:

"Mr. Cain, would you appoint a Muslim candidate to your cabinet or to the federal bench?"

"My position is that I want the best individuals in my administration. I do not have a religious litmus test. What is more important to me is belief in the U.S. Constitution, particularly the 1st amendment. I want to know that the candidate will support and defend the U.S. Constitution. There are extremists of varying beliefs in many different religions, and what matters is not whether the individual in question is a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jew, or some other faith or of no faith at all. What matters to me is that the candidate supports the right of every individual to practice his or her own faith without government intervention or coercion."

Would not vote for him because he doesn't understand the 21st century function of money. He would try to put us an a metal standard.

You mean like a Gold standard that backs up our money?
21st cetury money is printed by the federal reserve which is owned by the world bankers? So you like going deeper and deeper in debt President Obama does it all the time want to spend more just print more? Problem is everytime we print more we owe more, that is 21st century function. Metal standard just means you can't print or spend more than you have, novel concept huh?

Wasn't he chairman of the Kansas City Federal Reserve bank? Didn't he vote for the banker bailouts?

Give ya three guesses where this man's allegiance lies and the first two don't count. You ain't got no worries about no gold standard with this guy billwald he'll be 98% devalued fiat currency all the way till it's 100% devalued fiat currency!

I think that Cain understands very well just how your example of politically correct speech turns off the new conservative base. He is speaking clearly and articulating issues in a way we've probably not seen in mainstream viable candidates. That IS what it will take to win this time around. Anyone who even sounds political (by hedging their bets, using political double-talk, etc.) will not make it out of the primary season intact.

    • People want to KNOW what the candidate stands for.
    • They want he (or she) to articulate that stance or platform in VERY plain language that means what it means.
    • They want the candidate to take on the political issues -- but from a "Mom and Pop America" stance.
    • They REQUIRE the candidate to stand for constitutional issues.
    • They REQUIRE conservative (and family) values
    • They will not support the candidate that is seen as waffling or otherwise in the business of mind-changing, or who has proven in the past that they will do something other than their party platform once in office.

Cain meets those requirements (so far). Romney, Gingrich, and others do not.

Hey...he's not for a gov't takeover of medicine like Romney, Gingrich, or Obama.

He's not a socialist, like our current President.

    Pro-life, good.
    Plain-spoken, good.

He's definitely ahead of many others, in my book.

Of course, let's remember that the media will pick the finalists FOR us. They simply shut out all but 1-2 candidates, and won't give the others air time. And regrettably, most Americans are far too stupid or lazy to research the candidates and make informed choices.

My VERY early prediction: The media (with the public's uninformed assent) will choose Obama vs. Romney. Obama in a landslide (35-40 states).

    Grrrrrr.

In addition, much attention is given to 2 States

    Iowa (rank 30)........................2.9 million
    New Hampshire -(rank 41)........1.2 million

Combined these two states only account for 1.2% of the entire population of the US. (a total of 2.1 million voters) Yet, these these primaries often make or break a candidate. Total of 124 million voters in '08

I agree its a safe bet that Obama will be the Dem, but the "R" is wide open

The more I hear of and about Cain, the more I like. I'm thinking I'm going to have to put some money where my mouth is before long.

No actually it appears to be the media, there are two groups that have driven our Presidential elections since the inception of this nation. One their leaders in the late 1700's or Early 1800 said it doesn't matter who they vote for will be voting for us.
That has happened over the years, every President has either been a maber or was a puppet to these organizations. If he wasn't the vice president was. If neither were members they were puppets, Nixon wasn't and neither was Agnew, notice they took Agnew out and Ford was a member of one of these groups. So don't blame the media these groups control who makes it or at least they think they do. God says He raises up leaders and tears leaders down.
