Eating at a restruant is no problem

Hooters is more hype than anything else. Their waitresses are fully clothed, and often in as much or more coverage than other "nice" places. Yes, they do play on men's sensibilities with many suggestive word plays, a bit of skin, etc. But no worse than other places I've seen.

Their chicken is actually okay.

We have one about 5 blocks from where I live. We do carry out once in a while. We rarely eat in, mostly because of the noise level (large screen televisions all over the place, each with a different sports venue blasting away). It is fun to people watch at Hooters though. Some absolute looser dude gets attention from a reasonable looking girl in tight clothing and he thinks he is king for a day. Of course he leaves a nice tip, which helps the poor girl through college. :laugh:

 

Ever? Seriously? I guess it's because I've always lived near the beach or a resort area, but most restaurants I know of, the girls wear shorts.

The girls at Grotto in Newark, De, wear far less coverage in the shorts area than Hooters' girls and nobody ever seems to complain.

 

I don't go to Hooters because I have people watching me and I don't want to send the wrong message. That and because the food is awful.

But to be honest, I see far, far worse than what Hooters' girls wear on the street/beach/boardwalk every day. So much of the fuss about Hooters is based on reputation and stories spread by people who have never been there than reality.

I think it was a mistake to take the children there simply because many parents may have a problem with the idea. Being from Maryland and being very familiar with the Inner Harbor/Fell's Point area, I believe there are far, far better restaurants they could have taken the children to.

I can't remember the name of the place, but in the mall just below where the Hooters in question is, there's a 50's themed hamburger joint (not Johnny Rockets) that would have been a much better choice, and probably more enjoyable for the children (or at least more enjoyable for the girls).

Like I said, I don't go to Hooters for a couple of reasons, but I wouldn't see this as a good hill to die on.
