In the realm of Bible Schools for Baptist faith which are considered the top 20? I mean with or without accredidation the ones with the best reputation for academics.

Undergrad or Graduate? SBC or Otherwise? Reputation within the church or outside? There's a lot of Top 20s you could probably come up with.

BBFI is a subgroup of IFB. It is not the whole IFB. It is a small part of all IFB.

Don't know if I could come up with 20, and it would depend on who you asked. In general acceptance and regard...

Southern Seminary is definitely in there somewhere, being well regarded even in secular circles for rigor (though they hate its conservatism).

Beeson is definitely in there somewhere, as well, as would be the Baptist studies division of Westminster Seminary California.

But again, this is a completely subjective thing.

What do you mean by "baptist school"?

Does Baylor count? How about Brown? How about Mercer? Just curious...carry on.

If they have Baptist affiliation they are baptist.

For instance DTS is actually considered a presbyteryn school so it couldn't be listed.

Liberty would be as would Baylor or Houston Baptist. Not saying they are in the list but they would be considered that if they have the affiliation.

This might help. Here's a list of colleges that are affiliated with SBC State Conventions.

    http://www.sbc.net/colleges.asp

I'd love to comment since I have spent time working in the college setting as well as youth and BSM/BSU ministry, but it's difficult to say here in Texas since we can be a egocentric sometimes. Most of what I hear is really only about Texas schools. Even though some could debate how "Baptist" Baylor may or may not be, it is still a popular destination and still well regarded I believe. However I find that to be more for undergrad than masters theological studies.

That is a first for me, could you elaborate a tad, as to who/what considers it?

Many a baptist preacher has come from DTS but Chafer and I believe evn Wallvoord came from the Prebytereans. The school was founded as a Presbyteran school.

I don't think it was ever affiliated. Either way it is a moot point since it is not a Baptist school anyway you look at it even though many Baptists have come out of the school.

DTS was expressly founded as a denominationally independent institution.

    Havensdad,

Totally agree on SBTS; it is certainly one of the finest seminaries in the world, regardless of denomination. Beeson is a remarkable seminary, but I believe that it is technically non-denominational...even though it is located on a baptist undergraduate campus.

Last time I checked, Beeson was affiliated with both the CBF and the AAB...

Again back to my original question can anyone supply a list of the top 20
    IBF (indepedent baptist) Schools

    SBC Schools

    All other Baptist schools

If accredidation matters for them to make your list note that.

    Thanks,

    From the link...

"The confessional context in which the faculty teaches is defined by the Baptist Faith and Message statement of 1963"

Teaching from the Baptist standpoint, is, in my opinion, sufficient to call a university "Baptist." Not only that, they have scholarships for CBF students, and are listed as being affiliated with the CBF...again, according to the criteria set forth in the thread, more than enough to call it "Baptist."
