Jesus foretold to the jews that though they would reject Him as messiah, they will gladly accept "another" after Him, coming in His own name...

    Who was that person?

    John 5:43
I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

    cf. Matthew 24:24
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

John 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

Presumably anyone who comes according to his own "credentials" i.e. a doctor of the Law, but also reckoned to be a reference to the Antichrist by some/many.
