The FDA is going to require shock photos on cigarette packages.

    that seems to be okay,

but why is it when Pro-lifers use shock pictures - well thats just horrible....

    Is there a difference?

Some countries consider abortion pictures the same as p*rnography. Graphic images of death/violence are very disturbing and can throw some people off big time, others? It just immunizes them to horror and they don't have much of a reaction.

I'm one that agrees with not publicizing graphic photos, whether it's of an abortion victim or victim of war, accident, whatever. It messes with my mind and is traumatizing. I don't need to see a murdered body to know that murder is wrong. Seeing such only incites me to violent feelings and nightmares.

This sort of thing has been on ciggies in Australia and New Zealand for years. It does not work as well as might be thought....despite it being gross. In Australia there have been tv ad campaigns....people really do get desensitised to horror.

Price hikes have some benefit, but the person does need to WANT to quit. I know of folk who are growing their own tobacco due to the enormous taxes on cigarettes now.

I agree with you Gina.....I do not watch tv to be revolted and horrified by human misery and callousness.
