I used to be active on here several years ago. I was wondering if there are any of the older members left. I had a good friend here, Jeff Weaver, a Primitive Baptist. Does anyone know if he's still around?

According to the logs, he hasn't posted since 2007. His homepage hasn't been updated for a while but may have contact info for him: http://www.newrivernotes.com/

On the other hand, he may also have registered under a new name after a while.

So ya coming back or just looking for that one poster? :wavey:

My first thought was, "Wow, he joined in 2000." Then I realized that I joined in 2004 (7 years ago).

No, old doesn't matter, and I should know.

By the way, I was here at the very beginning, but lost some years when the now owners bought the BB.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I am an oldtimer.... :)I was here, when the original Webmaster (Barnabas Kui) designed the BB. He was working for me (attending college at the same time) and asked me what would I think about the concept of having a Baptist discussion board on the Wide World of Web? Even though I did not understand the design concept, I encouraged him to do so. Little did we know at the time that in the US Baptists come in as many color (doctrine) as the rainbow. Back in Hungary we only had one type of Baptists. Originally the BB had two compartments, English and Hungarian. BK gave me free access to the board and I was involved in the Hungarian section. Soon the English section exploded and we had need of Moderators. I remember one of the first applicant, Dr. Bob (Griffin), who submitted his resume. BK forwarded it to me and asked for my input. I was impressed by Brother Bob's resume and highly recommended him for the task. Dr. Bob registered as a member of the board on June 30, 2000 - which made me realize that I should do the same so on July 1, 2000 I also registered. Hence, even though I reviewed his resume and recommended him for the position of a Moderator, officially I am a day younger on the board (but in age I am much older). Since then much has happened. The board grew. A few years later the Hungarian interest dwindled and we reluctantly closed it. We had many precious people who stepped up for the task of moderating, and many of them were promoted to be Administrators of the board. Some of our precious brothers went home to be with the Lord, but they have left a legacy and we are truly grateful for their sacrificial labor of love. Others, like myself had to step down due to ill health and allow the younger generation to take over and stand in the gap. May the good Lord continue to spread the Gospel through this vehicle - the BaptistBoard.com for His glory!!!

Not as "around" as he used to be. He has lost a lot of weight. He posts. Check out his profile.

He certainly is (or, in American, "He sure is!" :) ) Clicking here should take you to his BB public profile.

Again David, you remind me of my 2 elderly aunts (Welsh) with their proper way to do everything. There is a place for everything Stephen, & everything in it's place. No lad, we do it this way.

Thats the crude & wrong way to think & act Stephen & our people ..... They meant the Welsh Race. Well yes, Uncle Herbert occasionally goes to the Anglican church.... tisk.... but its a high church. "WE" however go to chapel. And never, never ever let me hear "aint" come out of your mouth..... there is NOT such a word in the English language.

They were proud & strong minded women.... and I shall love them forever.

Well, I have been compared to many things in my life, but this is the first time I've been compared to two elderly aunts! Welsh aunts, at that!

When I was at primary school, our headmistress had a Welsh name (Miss Pritchard), and she, like your aunts, would say things like, "There is no such word as 'aint' in the English language!"

At one time they used to say "ain't" ain't in the dictionary, but check out Page 24 of the Concise Oxford Dictionary:

Ain't...colloq. 1. am not; are not; is not (you ain't doing it right; she ain't nice). Usually regarded an uneducated use, and unacceptable in spoken and written English, except to represent dialect speech.

So, "ain't in the dictionary" ain't acceptable anymore.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Sorry for the late answer Michael, but my wife was 17 days in the hospital and is just now slowly recovering.

To answer your question, YES, Dr. Bob is still around. He is moderating several forums. You'll find his name after one of the many forums on the right hand side of the home page, click on his name and get his public profile. He may not be as prolific in his posting as he used to be, but yes, he is still around. :type:

Barnabas, here is wishing your wife well. I knew she was going to surgery, but never heard any more. Bless.

Amazing how many of us oldtimers are still around, isn't it?

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hello Brother Jim! Good to see you around. Yes, thank you for asking, Lenke is doing better. I posted an informative summary on her condition in the Common Ground Coffee House. Below is the link to that post. Blessings to you and your dear wife! :type:
