I think it is much more then that. I believe we are seeing the beginning of freedoms being ripped away. I believe that in the not so distance future we will see this country become a police state using the military against its own people because people sold their liberties for claimed security and the government is ready and willing to take the freedoms away. I am convinced it will all come about as this nation falls into greater debt and defaults on its responsibilities and falls from world prominence.

I believe you are largely correct.. There is absolutely no viable reason for virtually any of these publicized searches, and this lady is no exception.. It is an "in your face" assault on our freedoms through desensitization. An exercise, if you will.

(Thread topic is the power and authority of the TSA)

TSA has power because Americans have been trained to be afraid of most everything. FDR stated, "We have nothing to fear . . ." Was it the Republicans or the Democrats who changed the paradigm to "We must always be afraid?"

Of course we need to be afraid. We were bombed by terrorists and the threat continues, and our the authority Americans give to those we want to protect us? Their response to it is to rip the diapers of 90-something year old leukemia patients instead of using the much more reasonable people profiling during security measures.

So yes, be afraid. Be very afraid.

It was the Democrats. Especially the congress we just were able to get the lack of leadership out of the speakers position. Boehner may be able to get back the attitude of not being afraid, but the last speaker had us afraid very afraid of her leadership and taxation plans for all Americans.

I disagree. The problem is with the people, not just the political parties. If the people had stood up to George Bush who started this we would not be where we are today. It is my contention that the man should have been impeached for some of the things he did.

A person is 10 times more likely to be killed by lightening than by a terrorist. Humans are terrible at risk analysis. Think of the hundreds of people who live in trailers in Tornado Alley. Might as well put out a sign, "Hit Me."

If you want to get all technical, the average tornado brings about relatively few deaths. If a terrorist gets on a plane, everyone dies. That's hundreds of people at once. During the 9/11 attacks nearly 3,000 died at once.

Because people die in natural disasters should not in any way, shape or form prevent us from attempting to curtail murder. How many people did Jack the Ripper kill? Not very many, yet law enforcement went all out to stop him.

You're avoiding the very simple concept that murder is wrong and we as humans have a responsibility to protect each other from those that would terrorize and kill us. You can't compare terrorism and murder to thunderstorms and then imply thunderstorms are worse. LOL What's up with that?! Statistics are statistics, and common sense is common sense. Common sense trumps statistics in this case.
