During the Summer, we usually can't brag on our numbers  But we can brag on God's work in our churches. Maybe they're little things or big things, but how is God showing Himself in your church?

This might appear a caustic answer, but by closing them....meaning the apostate ones. however the lord is much bigger than phoney baloney churches. There is a universal church that I belong to named Orthodox Christianity.....I will have to content myself with that till the Lord puts a good & Godly church in my path.

 I expected a caustic answer from you  (lots of smileys to show it is meant as a joke)

I guess what I was asking about was a means of encouraging each other by saying what God is doing right now in our churches.

I'll start. This week, the church sent 11 members to West Virginia for a 4th year in a row to help an inner city church. We also finalized plans to go to Miami to help the Children's Home there in September.

Well, in our little church, we just found out from one of the couples on our launch team that they will stay on in the new campus. We've not heard from the rest but this was a great blessing and an incredible shot in the arm for us!!

(We started this new campus with a launch team that committed to one year out there and after a year, they will choose to either stay with us or go back to the home campus.)

Public requests for prayers are up. I'm truly encouraged by that.

That really is a mark of success. Most all new plants like yours lose all their start up families. (Of course, some times they are happy when the start up families leave, too)

    Good to hear!

Any time people speak up to ask for prayer is a good thing.

Our church is hard at work re-building an ex-Catholic cathedral as a new center of worship that will work to revitalize an inner-city neighborhood with outreach and the light of the gospel. http://midtown.sojournchurch.com/about/

We are also instituting a new campus across the river in New Albany, where we have taken ownership of an old grade school, again, to start a new center of worship and ministry in the center of a downtrodden area. The campus will launch with over 250 members and likely two services. raising our Sunday total from 7 to 9 services and from 3 to 4 campuses! http://sojournchurch.com/locations/

We have a major women's conference scheduled in August and have rented the Brown theater in downtown Louisville to host the event so that more can attend. http://midtown.sojournchurch.com/2011/04/29/womens-conference-am-i-my-sisters-keeper/

We also have another major medical clinic planned for August. We typically see over 250 adults and children during these clinics and we offer a number of services from dental to eye care, to full medical services, testing, counseling, etc. Persons who enter the clinic are guided on an individual (or family) basis by a member-servant who seeks to meet as many needs as can be met, both spiritually and physically. Also offered are food and clothing for those who need items of that nature.

Our student ministry just returned from a mission trip to Mexico, and their next activity is a "boat float" summer camp, hosted on the water in rented houseboats! http://midtown.sojournchurch.com/2010/11/23/student-ministry-s2-boat-float-summer-camp/

We are also planning on hosting our summer Redemption Group exercise, an event that seeks to provide intensive discipleship for those who struggle with faith and other issues. The program has proven to be very effective!

Of course, there are also the more typical activities, worship, music, producing additional worship CDs, our on-going art gallery, and the myriad of local ministries and activities that dot our city through Community Groups (our in-home weekly ministry), Seed Ministry, church planting network, and other ministries. Feel free to hijack our ideas as long as the effort to satisfy them remains gospel-centered!

Oh, and we're just a 10-year-old church plant where the average age is under 30...

You'll recall that I am the same age as you give or take one...

And, no, I don't "get" everything that our church does. Never will. I have a completely different worldview than most of the kids that run the place, and just hanging around with coffee isn't always my thing -- I have things to do -- but that is the way they have worked in concert with God to build something tangible that is changing entire sections of our city. It is almost as if they have the audacity to simply trust God at His word. Oh my...

Ready for rock and roll church?
