I am joining the membership of my new church which bye the way is a IFB church. I saw their doctrine book and they do not allow women deacons, nor women to lead or have authority over a man. Women can teach children and other women (which is Biblical). I notice they also do not allow women to pray out loud in a service or sunday school environment (which I do not agree with) but cant argue with.

Unlike the conservative SBC church where I last held a membership I am so happy that we do not have women deacons, and women small group leaders. Some of the SBC may not allow a woman to be a pastor or preach in the main service, but they allow them to teach adult sunday school and lead in other ways which is not biblical. I have read and studied the scriptures out and believe nearly 100% with my new church and am so happy to be in a Bible obedient church. Churches seem to vary on interpretation of 1 Tim 2-3, 1 Cor 14, and so we may have a grey area in regards to if a woman should and can lead a small group ministry or lead in worship.

If there are any Fundamentalist Baptists on this site does what I describe sound typical of your church? How do you deal with Southern Baptist that are disobedient in this area and have women teach adult SS, lead small group ministries, lead worship, etc.? At my last church I tried to persuade them with the Bible but they would not listen, so I eventually left.

I have been ton IFB churches were women had to wear head coverings, and even once IFB church where women could not teach children or other women without a man administrating and supervising the woman. I DISAGREE WITH THIS INTERPRETATION.

evangelist6589, if I may. I discovered in 1990 that I was a bit introverted. Twenty five percent of the world are introverted with the remaining being extroverted. No, I don't go around wearing black, wide frame glasses nor do I read encyclopedias. What being introverted means is that I process information differently.

That out of the way, I'm with you. There is a valuable place in any church for any woman..., but not in the pulpit nor on the deacon board. If I attended a church that endorsed such, I'd leave.

I've heard it said that women use both sides of their brains at the same time. Hence, five women can be talking all at the same time and all five can hear what everyone is saying. Well, there's nothing wrong with that I suppose. Men on the other hand use one side of their brain and then when needed, use the other side.

The Lord made us this way. Why would anyone want to change things. Men are different than women on purpose. Those who do want to change the Lord's will are certainly Out Of HIS WILL and they will surely not recognize any positive growth.

Well said brother. I come here for like minded fellowship. This is not a Fundamentalist posting board, but I know there are IFB here. I d not agree with extreme interpretations of the text such as women head coverings, etc.. But oh well thats just me. There may be biblical support for it.

Baptists historically were part of the Free Church movement. That should prove to be instructive in all these debates.

Each local church remains autonomous. The way the matter should be.
