What possesses a person to take what is not theirs? I wondered that when I saw the rioting & looting televised for all to see in England (normally a proud & controlled people the British....or so I assumed). Is their such a breakdown & moral decay that a person would take what is not theirs & really they dont have the right to have (without paying for it)? So my question is whats going on in the minds of people today & how does Christianity address it?

It is common in our society, so many do it every day and don't think twice about it. Taking pen, paper and things home from work. Taking longer breaks than one should and still want to be paid for the full day. Not working as hard as you should for your boss or client because you are upset at them. The list goes on and on. The UK deal, the south central LA deal is folks carrying it to another step. They forget we are countries of law or they don't care, so they take what ever they can get away with as so many people do at work.
Lets start off with 1John 5:17a, "All unrighteousness is sin"

Then your saying that that whole work ethic that this country used to have has disappeared....the one that made us the envy of every country is frankly non existent.

Sure, socialism builds a spirit of entitlement. They are not getting what they think they are entitled to so they are acting like spoiled children. Capitalism builds a spirit of self reliance, common courtesy, and humility.

I do not believe a judgment can be made on that based on such a title.

OK...so in general...do you feel that Wall Street Employees that run the Financial World & absorbed the Tax payers tarp money (because they were about to fail do to their own terrible decisions) are they considered coop able in destroying the tenants of capitalism?

The bailouts were foolish. But your question, because it ties it to a broad group of people, is over simplified and therefore incorrect.

Oh, OK Glad you think so....but since you want to talk about the tenants of Capitalism (you brought the subject up)...then you would agree that the LOOSER should actually lose so that the new ideas people, companies can become winners.....that wasnt done in this country! In a sence we are allowing thieves to run wild. So therefore if there is a breakdown in both our political & financial systems & this leads to a breakdown in other areas (like moral decay).

Whether or not a particular company gets bailed out would have little effect on morality. But the mentality that drives such an idea props up poor morals. When everything becomes a right rather than something to earn then their is no reason to earn anything. That mentality is immoral.

I agree...then our Political & Financial Systems have become immoral....otherwise the system that conned the American populace to agree to institute all these Financial bailouts would be a catalyst driving the economy. The true fruit however is what you see today...i.e., massive unemployment, businesses going under, etc.

As everyone can see, what the dems want to get implemented on the Fed level have utterly failed on the state level. States like Wisconsin, California, Michigan, etc. have gone in the dumps. Then when conservatives get in like Wisconsin and change things then we see the outstanding results. Florida, Texas are also evidence of the conservative agenda.Socialism fails at every turn.

We were at this type of boat before the fall in the 20's, to many people thinking of me first. The movie "Splendor in the Grass" give a good picture of a few years ago and where we are today.
What made us the envy of the world in my life time is after WWII we were one of a few places that had factory that were or could run at 100%. We also was one of the few place that had a 10 hour work day, 6 days a week, we worked more if not harder to try and get a small house. Now other parts of the world has past us, some is due to poor management (such as our auto business, pushing engineers down or out of the head or top jobs and the union for keep wanting more pay less work and more benefits and fighting to stop much change in how autos are made, then we fell behind and the rest of the world passed us.) and unions pushing against changes, now we have Ford as an American Co. and government motors and Fiat plus Japan Korea and Germany for the big boys.

I think all sin can be explained by one word: Pride. Pride is what causes entitlement. Pride is what causes one to think they deserve what isn't truly theirs. Every sin really just boils down to pride.
