IF Not A Baptist, Which Church Would You Be Attending?

    IF say moved to area w/o any Baptist churches, which one would you attend and fellowship in?

    Which would be acceptable to you doctrine wise?

    Any church that was baptistic in doctrine. Around here, there are a number of churches that are Baptist churches but just don't have it in the name. There are no less than 3 churches that I'd be happy to be a part of within a short distance of my home (within 20/30 minutes) who do not have "Baptist" in the name but are absolutely rock solid.

    I don't know how different it is down there but there's no way I'd attend a UM church up here in NY. It's so liberal and ungodly, it's incredible.

    Non Denoms are getting big here too Ann. But what I find is marked attention to the lost particuallry the RC's. Since our tri state are (Connecticut, NJ & NY) have the biggest populations of Catholics in the country.

    Where I live we have the choice of RC, Anglican, Oneness Pentecostal....Weslyan is relatively close as are pentecostal and Free Methodist.

    Since my background was Church of England, I have little difficulty attending the Anglican....Interestingly enough, they also baptize adult converts by immersion, upon request. This church is also evangelical. I used to lead a Bible study there, and preached on occasion. I was Anglican up to 1958....At the time, all military chaplains were Anglican.

    I know we've discussed this before but I believe that's why some drop the Baptist name. But yes, we have a large number of non-denoms around here too and most of them are very good. :)

    Christian Church, Bible Church, here even Church of God borders on many of the same teachings. I would probably, however, contact the HMB and ask them about a church plant, or even start my own church.

    Would attend a Free methodist before that one!

    have attended Evangeical Free Church, seemed almost like a "free will" Baptist Church!

    Intersting decision around here!

    Would be either Evangelical Free Church, except they seem to be like "free will" baptist!

    or a conservation presby church, streong DoG, but infant baptism and a mil eschatology!

    Or A Charasmatic Church practicing Gifts, but also with some heretical teachings!

    if NOt a Baptist. "Pick your poison!"

    We've lived where there are no baptist churches.

    And where the non denoms were all word/faith charismatics.

    My first "second choice" would be a good presbyterian church.

    Next would be to check out the local Nazarene church.

    And I'd give the United Methodist a look/see. Some are quite liberal, but some are very evangelical, use some baptist material, and generally generic evangelical.

    editted to add: evangelical free church can be quite good also.

    Probably a non-denom, or Evangelical Free Church.

    1. Non-Cal
    2. Preaches repentance/faith and eternal security
    3. Baptism by immersion for believers only
    4. Lord's supper as ordinance, not sacrament

    Do NOT want to see 'funny" here, but wouldn't non cals like Arms teach could lose salvation conflict with eternal security cals do hold to?

    cals also would teach points 2/3/4!

    I'd be ashamed.

    If there is not a Baptist church in my area what would I do?
    I'd start one.

    If there is an Orthodox Presbyterian Church, check it out. It is the most conservative of the Presbyterian groups.

    I don't agree with TULIP (only the 'P') and evangelical Bible preaching non-cal churches aren't necessarily Arms, and they're not necessarily teaching "losing your salvation." That's just another (of the many) strawmen that cals construct to criticize non-cals.

    Do you consider baptists as being "True Church" of God than?

    same way RCC see their Church?

    I consider Baptists, at least the ones I associate with, as Biblical. I don't consider those that baptize by pouring or sprinkling, for example, as being Biblical. So why should I join with them.
