What the Republicans Should Do With Obama's Jobs Bill.

Pass it. Pass it exactly as it stands. Make no amendments, make no changes.

    On one condition.

As quid pro quo, Republicans get to cut spending 50% higher than Obama's recommendation to the Deficit Reduction Super Committee.

Obama's recommendation to the committee was to cut the deficit by $1.2 Trillion. Now he wants to pile on another $430 Billion. OK, that's a total of $1.63 Trillion. Add in another 50%, or $815 Billion, for a total of $2.4 Trillion and we have a deal, Mr. President.

Obama's ideas are a rehash of stuff that hasn't really worked. Let him have his Jobs Bill. Pass the bill, implement it, and when it fails, he will be the biggest *ss in Washington, absolutely unelectable.

Republicans can then cut the deficit to their numbers and just after the 2012 election, wherein a Republican becomes President, the economy will start humming again. The whole notion of spending your way out of a recession will have been put to death. Obama's out of office. Everybody's happy.

The bill has to be read first, but if it is anything like the health care bill it needs to be gutted. We are in debt and no new debt needs to be added, but cutting spending does need to happen and it should start wiht every federal politician including the president with a 50% pay cut and doing away with all their benifits including retirement until we are out of debt.

Actually, the bill has to be written first.

At this point there is no bill - only Obama's rhetoric.

I think that the Republicans should put forward a number of small stand alone bills which individually include some of the items which Obama talked about that will actually create jobs and spur the economy such as eliminating job killing regulations.

Let the Democrats vote them down and the general public can see who really wants to create jobs.

I'd rather give Obama everything he wants, watch him fail, discredit his strategies, kick him out of office, massively cut spending and get rid of regulations. THINK BIG! Ha!

That is a very big price to pay to get him out of office.

Besides, if the Republicans did give him his entire wish list he would just blame them for the ultimate failure somehow.

Also, I don't see how a bill that meets Obama's list can be passed anytime this year - let alone "now" or "today" or "tomorrow" or whenever else he said to pass it.

Part of his plan is to put the deficit committe in charge of paying for it and they don't even meet until after Thanksgiving, I believe.

How could the bill be written until they tell Congress what to put into it to pay for it?

This is a bill that does not even exist yet. It must be passed so we can see what's actually in it, perhaps?

What should they DO with it? I'm not sure what kind of answer you're fishing for, but if I gave the one I have in mind it would likely get me a message to reread the board rules.

Nope, the public would see thorough this. How could Obama possibly blame the Reps for this when he went on national TV, asked for these specific things, and got them?

The latest news is that the bill will be delivered sometime next week.

I thought it was before Thanksgiving, but yeah, that's too late. You pointed out in another thread that Obama is passing the buck, which is true. I think of it as kicking the can down the road some more. Remember the committee's recommendations are to be spread out over a 10 year period, so they could arrange the cuts to be further in the future (kick the can down the road some more) and if the committee can't agree there are automatic cuts which can't be influenced or changed.

This jobs bill is the leverage the Republicans could use to rewrite the task of the super committee. I see it as a golden opportunity to take care of business on many different fronts.

I listened to the entire trough of rhetoric and this is one of the stupidest political ploys I have seen or heard in my 66+ years. In the time that the nation is over ten trillion dollars in the red, he says cut taxes and spend billions more when all the government need do is to follow the same formula the Democrats followed to put people back to work in the thirties. Reenact the CCC and rebuild the public works projects for less than 1/3 of the cost for private industry to do it.

Now, the last time the country did this, put money in the pockets of the masses, private industry began to hire to produce new product to get that money out of the workers pockets and into their own, Capitalism.

But what about the National debt?

Stop paying foreign aid to any country except the one that God will bless us for supporting, Israel! We can pay the debt down to zero in ten to twelve years and let all those recipients that hate our guts take care of themselves.

I understand that the individuals who participated in CCC, were required to send some of the money home to their parents. See this link.... (it tells you what % was sent home)

25$ out of $30 earned was sent home to support the family.

Would never happen today. The kids going out to do the work would never agree 83% of their pay being sent home to their parents.

Maybe we could alter the conditions, that is unless it is written in stone somewhere that eighty-three percent must be deducted from their earnings.

They will do nothing. The Republicans want the unemployment rate growing until the 2012 election.

To be completely fair, President Obama hasn't had very much(if any) help from the GOP. They have fought against him from day one. Why? Look at the mess he inherited. If we were to have this ship sailing in the right direction, they(GOP) would have had egg all over their faces.

The GOP had eight years to do "something" with healthcare, and they did nothing about it. Look, I am an MLT(Med. Lab Tech.), and I see firsthand all the things done that are "iffy" at best, in regards to patient testing. Dr.'s offices, hospitals, etc will do way too many tests, if you have good insurance. This needs to be stopped. Wasn't it President Bush who signed a bill that a generic can not be made until at least seven years has transpired?

Look, the blame goes on all of captial hill, because if McCain would have been voted in, the Dems. would have fought against him, too. They need to quit playing the "chess game", and get something done to stimulate our economy. BTW, in theis "chess game" we're the pawns!!

Could be thats what they wanted- For one thing - health care should be a State issue - is not a constitutional function of the Federal

and why do the doctors order so many tests - is it because they want (or required by insurance company) to take every precaution as not to miss any possible medical problem?
