I heard a theory today that since BO is doing so bad in the polls, and loosing much support - he may pull a late "LBJ" and decide not to run for re-election for the good of the nation. If, and thats a big if - if that did happen, who would run as President for the Dems?

That's an easy one. The loser of the 2012 election will be the name on the Dem POTUS ticket.

There is no way team zero will allow Hillary to take time off her job to run. It won't happen. If it does, expect her to get hammered in a way that'll make what happened to Palin look tame.

The dems might as well run a republican and the republicans a democrat. They all want the same things. Endless wars, economic ruin, big brother police state and to give every last nickel in our pockets to the global bankers and corporitos.

Except for Dr. Paul but he's too radical for either party.

I believe Secretary Clinton has stated in multiple media outlets that her current position is the last political office she seeks to hold. She has said she isn't interested in anything else.

Now whether she sticks by that is another thing. For what it's worth, I think she's been a fairly effective Secretary of State. She's liked by the international community and has created a lot of consensus on difficult issues. I do believe she's getting encouragement to run for President because of the dismal job performance results President Obama is receiving. There's quite a bit of fear in the Democratic camp right now.

Time will tell. A Democratic rival to President Obama isn't too much to think of right now. :)

I agree, Sec Clinton has done an amazing job at State. She has proved herself and true statesman. If she wants the presidency I think it is hers for the asking.

Yeah and that's despite the fact that she's aided and abetted known terrorists in Lybia. People just love her. GAG!

You know Poncho - why don't you surprise us just once and actually answer the question in the OP? :tonofbricks:

Just to clarify - this OP is not about a rival campaign against Obama, but rather Obama deciding NOT TO RUN. - If so, who would he pass off the ball to?

I am not aware of any "amazing" things she has done. Can you tell us just a few ? Serious question.

Because the question has no merit. It's based on a fantasy that there are two politically opposing sides. It doesn't matter who the dems run any more than it matters who the repubs run in our two party dictatorship.

Why not surprise us and post something on real issues rather than all this meaningless leftie vs rightie fluff?

Oh and what I said about Hillary. It's true. Same goes for the rest of the Obama adminstration. Why aren't we discussing this real issue instead? Or doesn't it matter that our "leaders" are partnered up with Al Qaeda now? Oooooo, let's have a Hillary love fest! Scuze me while I vomit.

Yes it does - this was not just some fantasy - rather I started this thread based on a valid hypothesis of what potentially could happen

Contrary to your blinders there are actually difference between the two parties - your problem is that you are so far to the right, you are not able to see a difference. I do agree that there is some overlap - but there are differences.

if not left vs right - than what?

For those who are truly interested in facts, you may want to
Check this link for one view -

Unsee there are some major events happening,
One of three things will happen
    1) Obama will give in to the demands of the "takers"
    2) Obama will step aside for the good of the Party
    3) Obama will be badly beaten in '12

O's ego is too big not to seek re-election. He is even setting it up that his hopey changey stuff would take 2 terms. Anyone besides O on the ticket is sure doom for the dems and they know it. They put all of their eggs in O's basket.

Surpisingly, here's what Cheney had to say about her:

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/09/dick-cheney-to-hillary-clinton-run/

    However:

"Clearly her current job has been good for Hillary Clinton. She has assiduously refused to get involved in ordinary, common political discourse and arguing, and works diligently on lofty, positive, international goals. She now gets a 40% favorable rating from Republicans, quite high as these things go.

Of course, as my colleague Lydia Saad has pointed out, it’s not unusual for a secretary of state to do well in the eyes of the public. Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, and Colin Powell all scored high favorable ratings while occupying that office."

BHO Ego Too Big Not to Run!

He'll run, unless the Party does something to persuade him differently. Then you may see the first serious female contender, and Hillery could win if she distances herself miles away from Obama and those who supported him in 2007!

Furthermore, if (and this is a huge, if) she does run, I may be inclined to vote for her over the group of nobodies the Grand Old Party is currently putting before us!

The reason I'd vote for her has to do with the need to put someone in that office who may have a chance to make some difference and start us back on the road to recovery. Of course, recovery is probably several decades away from being reality. :tear:

She's married to Bill isn't she?

Is it possible that she actually does her job?

I know that during the Obama meltdown, she has not taken advantage of his decline. I would think if she were contemplating a run, she would have distanced herself more from him by now. With all the oscillating the President has done, she has had ample opportunity to resign over political differences if she so desired.

I wanted here to run in 2008; I would have voted for her. Since she didn't run, I voted for McCain. If she were to run in 2012 I would probably vote for her, depending on who the republican candidate is and depending on what happens between now and then.

Yes, I have been pleasantly surprised by her performance. Especially since I think she has had a number of handicaps (for example, being a woman representing the U.S. in the Middle East, and having to represent an indecisive administration).

I doubt that Hillary Clinton would want to risk being called a racist again by opposing Obama.
