I don't think anyone posted a link to this video yet, but I want to encourage everyone to watch this video... powerful and a great video by Ray Comfort. I highly recommend it.

Great video. I must admit however that I shut it down toward the end when the the abortion segment began. I can't handle that.

I believe the graphic warning pertained to the footage of the holocaust.

I love Comfort's approach (except for the Lordship salvation slant of "turn from your sins" to an unregenerate person unable to do so)

And yet that's exactly what Paul preached, so he's right on target!

Since he also allegedly taught that the lost are spiritual corpses unable to do anything but sin either your understanding of what he taught is flawed or the message. I'll go with the former :)

Act 26:20 but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.

Rays exact message. No interpretation necessary.

    Wow, that's one powerful video.

The lack of knowledge on some people's part about not knowing anything about Hitler is simply mind-blowing. Every child should be taught the horrors of that time period.

I have visited several of the sites associated with the holocaust. It is humbling and fearful reminder of the evils that we can bestow on one another.

    Havensdad then said...

I disagree. An unregenerated man can not succesfully turn from their sins. Believe me, I tried. And the scriptures teach that he cant.

It is AFTER a person chooses to surrender to Christ, and is born of the Spirit that they have to ability to really make those kind of changes.

Repent doesn't mean that you "change" in the sense that you are able to stop sinning. You can't because before conversion you don't have to power to change since the Holy Spirit doesn't yet indwell you. What repent means is to have a change of mind, to "turn" in your mind. To be saved you must repent and believe, meaning you must have a change of mind about your sins and a change of mind about who Christ is.
I think this is why so many get upset about the word "repent" when referred to before salvation.

Regarding the video, it was awesome. I have asked my pastor to show it at church.

Amy that is nice but that it not what the bible teaches. First I am glad that you did not say it means to turn from sin. It is not as much about what we are turning from but who wwe are turning to. In Acts we are told what is mean by repenting and it is about God. We have to change our mind about God to repent. No lost person wants the God of the bible in their life the way He requires which is to trust Him in what He says. To be saved we have to change our mind towards God or turn to God and then when He tells us by his word that He has given all power to His Son we take that heart of repentance and place it on His Son which is faith then salvation is born. In other words Lordship salvation or no salvation.

    It means both.
Revelation 2:22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.

No one is going to turn to God until they repent (change their mind) of sin. You have to realize you're a sinner first and then be willing to turn to God and be saved.

No place does the NT say repent of your sin. A person can turn from their sin and never repent towards God.

So if we do a work, then God will save us, correct? "You do this" (repent) says God "Then, I will save you."

    Then it's a deal!!!

    Correct?

Repent is to turn away from your old life against God and toward God which does not include acceptance of rebellion against Him. Now if one wants to call that something other than repenting of sin then have at it. But that is what it is.

No. How did you get that out of what I said? How is changing your mind about something "a work"? ????

    Or you could say this;

"So if we do a work, then God will save us, correct? "You do this" (believe) says God, "Then I will save you" Then its a deal....

Turning from seeking sin, in doubt and rebellion, to seeking God through faith (which is repentance) is not a work. Faith and repentance are gifts from God.
