    I have a question that I want an answer to. Last night, I was listening to Bro. John MacArthur, and he stated that Jesus' baptism was a corination(sp?) and that He could not do any miracles prior to this Event. The question I have is this; wouldn't this have made Him less than God if He could not do these prior to being baptized? Jesus at the age of twelve, told Joseph and Mary that He needed to be about His Father's business.

    I see the baptism as a sign to John that He was indeed the Messiah that had been preached about throughout the whole OT. What say ye??

    It's not worded very well.
    His baptism was symbolic of the beginning of his ministry.
    He could have done miracles before then but it was not His Father's will. He came to do His Father's will, and as God the Son submitted to Him in all things. It is not that He couldn't do miracles; it was not His will to do miracles before His baptism. His baptism signified the beginning of his ministry.

    Thank you for the timely response. I may have not worded his statement entirely correct, but that was the gist of it, or that's how it came across to me.

    I see His baptism as telling John the Baptist that He was/is indeed the Messiah that had been foretold. Not to make Him the Messiah, but because He was/is the Messiah.

    See John 3:25-30
    He [Jesus] must increase, but I [John] must decrease.

    Baptism = transition point

    There are many elements to Jesus baptism that are worthy of comment.
    [QUOTE 14But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

    15And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

    John"s baptism was a baptism of repentance.Jesus did not have any sin to repent of.....but as Mediator...and Federal head of His sheep he identified with them...to fulfill all righteousness.

    16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

    17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
    ][/QUOTE]
    The Father publicly identifies Him as the full final Prophet heb1 1-3...and The true Israel...The Covenant Son.....Ex.4:22......so now the miracles and signs will follow as in the first Exodus.

    Agree with this statement here. Good post here, Brother.

    Agree again. Now, could Jesus have done miracles prior to this event? I personally believe He could. I have heard some say that He emptied Himself when He became a man, but to state this, it would make Him less than God, correct? So, I don't not think He emptied Himself, but He became a little lower than the angels, in that He tasted death. But, then He was exalted above everyone when He was resurrected and ascended back to the Father, being set on the right hand of God on the throne.

    He only emptied himself of the visible manifestation of His Divine attributes.

    Man was made a little lower than angels...so Jesus came as man to identify with the children given to Him by the Father..Hebrews 2:4-8 11-16

    Can't say that I disagree with this, Brother.

    Isaiah 53
    1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

    2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

    Who in form of God belonging not snatching deems the to be equal with God
    but self empties form of slave getting. Scripture4all.org Greek Interlinear Bible (NT)

    What word precedes God more than other in the word of God and describes the very attribute of God that the idols of men do not possess?

    Living

    Heb. 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death,

    Luke 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels;

    No be made lower than the angels is to not have life in himself but to have it in flesh and blood subject to death. Non life. He was a living soul as Adam his figure.

    God in Jesus his only begotten Son self emptied himself of, life in himself which is the glory of God.

    By resurrection God the Father made him a quickening Spirit, with life in himself and gave him Glory.

    1 Cor 15:45,46 The first man Adam (the figure of him to come) was made a living soul; the last Adam a quickening spirit. Howbeit that not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; (Jesus speaking as a prophet) John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. 1 Peter 1:19-21 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
