You think he would get tired of blaming Bush -

Watch out, he might start blaming Ford, Nixon, even Hoover.....

You mean he'll blame it on the Republicans, who only hold 47 seats in the Senate? <gasp>

Rush said today that it was never expected to pass, and the Democrats actually tried to put off a vote, knowing they didn't have the numbers. GOP Leader McConnell called for an immediate vote to force the Democats' hands.

This was not the final vote, but sort of a test vote. Some Democrats who voted Yes today have also said they'll vote No when it comes up for the final vote.

The whole idea is to use this as a way to bash the Republicans down the road.

How do you figure? First of all, only two votes against were from Democrats...the rest were from Republicans. And it did get 50 votes. The reason 60 votes were needed was to end the debate. There are 57 Democrats if memory serves. Not enough if every Democratic senator voted yes. I say it is you who is spinning this a bit dishonestly.

I really do not like procedural tools to block a vote, no matter which party does it. The bill was not defeated by a vote - it was defeated by political maneuvering.

Yes, it needed the 60 votes, and they knew it was not going to pass. If they would have dealt with more regulation reform they would have gotten 4-5 additional Republicans. The fact is, they refused to allow any changes to the bill or negotiations to the bill. It was an "all or nothing" scenario and instead of allowing amendments and negotiations to "Build the vote" like most legislation, it was the President's way or the highway.

I believe he knew this bill would never pass and he didn't want it to pass or else they would have dealt with several issues to get some of the more moderate Republicans to support it. They refused and it died.

BTW, this is not really a jobs bill. I do not think Obama understands how the economy really works as he has proposed much of what has gotten us into this situation.

I don't have a problem with this. In fact, I think it has protected us more than it has harmed us and it is a part of the laws of the Senate.

Just being a part of the procedural rules does not make it right. How often do GOP supporters cry when the Democrats use this ploy.

Let votes come to the floor where they can be decided on their merit or lack of merit.

The Dems would not allow any amendments. It is their own fault.

I keep watching these strings on about five forums and what amazes me is that none of you seem to be interested in seeing just what is in the bill that is and never was needed. In SEC. 376. FEDERAL AND STATE IMMUNITY, we find the absolute, biggest reason to be against this billÅ› passage, the removal of State sovereignty. Being a swing voter, i could care less what party the President is from, it was from the beginning it has been about the need for the Impeachment and then Removal from office because of nationality. Add to that, the need for Christians and Lost people to wake up and to begin to act like they have some sense of the world around them and to read the book Mr. Obama considers holy to find out what it is that he is planning.

    No kidding.

SEC. 376 basically says that states that receive money from the federal government under this bill are not immune from lawsuits if they violate the laws contained in the bill.
