As sinners will NOT be able to even do that in and of themselves?

Well as always in the Cal/non Cal debate, it boils down to how do you define "all" and "everywhere". You know.....what the definition of "is" is. :tongue3:

    Acts 17:30

    New American Standard Bible (NASB)

30 Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,

Think Amy's right on target. Obviously, from your opening post, you believe that "all" translates to "all elect." If you have no room for considering that "all" means "all," then your opening question leaves no room for discussion.

It certainly could mean all kinds of people (Jew and Gentile alike) in all countries, but I see no problem with it meaning everybody without exception and the context probably fits that better. The Gospel message must go out to everyone, and whoever believes will be saved.

    :)

Almost logically equivalent to "Have you stopped beating your wife yet"?

Steve, and if we "left it there" we would all agree hold hands, hug and be very happy. :) As we should be anyways.

No place does scripture say that there are some who cannot repent.

A lost man will stand condemned before God not because he could not believe, but because he would not.

No one can say "I really wanted to be saved, but I couldn't."

Yes, the elect who hear the gospel will be saved, but the rest will acknowledge that their condemnation is just because they simply didn't want to confess Christ as Lord.

:thumbs::thumbs: It is not about can't it is about won't. And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Man choses evil but God choses man, some men.

Well, I Can Definitely Say that I'm Not a Memeber of the Elect...

...So, I must be one of the ALL who responded to the call once I heard it and recognised that I was a sinner, lost and going to hell, without Him in my heart.

I may not have been one of the "elect", but, I defintiely one of the "select!" Or, as the Thesaurus defines, "favoured" or "hand-picked."

As far as I am concerned, this response answers the OP's question, and should be closed before it implodes upon itself. Very good answer Sissy!!!
