A lot of people think that God speaks to them in dreams.

I guess it all depends on whether or not you believe that the Holy Spirit speaks to us apart from the Bible.

If you believe the Holy Spirit speaks to us apart from the Bible, then yes, he does.

If you don't believe the Holy Spirit speaks to us apart from the Bible, then no, he doesn't.

Do YOU think that the HS can give others words/wisdom/knowledge to be able to guide/direct others inspecific situation/circumstances today?

Today we don't see or hear much of what is reported in the New Testament. I have met people who say they have heard God audibly and who have seen miraculus things but I doubt it because of the type of people they are--always trying to make themselves more spiritual than others. However I do feel God can still audibly speak and perform miracles. In third world countries there are many reports of this. I think wherever God is at work spreading the Gospel where it is abscent he does miraculus things to get it stated just as He did 2000 years ago. Have you ever heard of "Voice of the Martyrs"?

    Is this a serious question?

    John 14:17
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

God Himself is in us, but you need to ask if He communicates with us? Really?

If the government took all the bibles in this country & burned them, would God cease to speak with us?

If the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin, He has spoken to you.
Can you understand scripture? He is speaking to you.
Can you discern good from evil? He is speaking to you.

    John 14:18
I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
    John 14:17-19

I would say yes, but what He says will never contradict Scripture. I've heard that Holy Spirit get blamed for a lot of ungodliness.

For instance, "The Spirit made me get down on my hands and knees and bark like a dog!" That may have been the leading of a spirit, but not the Holy Spirit.

I agree. I believe the Holy Spirit was clear in telling me to become pastor of this church and to marry my 1st wife (who is still my wife :tongue3: ).

Was it audible? No, but His message was clear.

good post! Never occured to me about the HS "speaking" to the believers in that fashion!

Just seems that sometimes we baptists appear to teach/believe that the ONLY way that HS can speak to us in in and by the Bible!

Know that is the normal/primary way, but still think that God is there with us at all times, and that He is NOT silent!

Always wondered in God would still be confirming via signs and wonders the truth of Jesus and the Christian faith, then once gets established, the Bible ALONE is sufficient to proceed!

1 GOOD thing learned from my pentacostal background was to ALWAYS "test the spirits", as had a cell group leader sqear to me that she was "told byt he HS" to marry me, even though she did really like me, and God NEVER spoke to me about that!

I am happily married for 13 years, 2 boys, and that lady was NOT the one God lead me to!

The Holy Ghost speaks only what is given to Him by God. So the answer is "no". The Holy Ghost only "speaks" to our inner man and this isn't auduble, either.

    John 16:12-14

12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
