Recently I have read or am reading 3 books on this topic.

David Jeremiah- I never thought I'd see the Day
    Charles Stanley- Turning the Tide
Erwin Lutzer- Is God on Americas Side?

All the books have similarities, but are written from different perspectives. My reading today in Jeremiah's book has prompted me to send off some emails to some in high offices. Not that they will respond, but I am going to preach the word to them Way of the Master style.

I challenge you to do the same. First buy these books, read them, and fire off some letters to those in high office and take action!

Could you please share more that than tiny tidbits of information given here?

A synopsis of what each author is focusing on would be great.

    Thanks

Is God on Americas Side? by Erwin Lutzer

With typical wisdom and lucidity, Lutzer addresses a fundamental question – a question begging for an answer after a frenetic election – Is God really on America’s side? To answer, the reader is carefully led through seven vital principles of a biblical understanding of judgment.

    • God can both bless and curse a nation.
    • God judges nations based on the amount of light and opportunity they are given.
    • God sometimes uses exceedingly evil nations to judge those that are less evil.
    • When God judges a nation, the righteous suffer with the wicked.
    • God’s judgments take various forms.
    • In judgment, God’s target is often His people, not just the general population.
    • God sometimes reverses intended judgments.

Turning the Tide by Charles Stanley

There is a wave sweeping our nation with dire consequences that is changing the way we live in America. Dr. Charles Stanley knows that the only way the tide will turn is if we as Christian citizens take action. Insisting that we are not powerless and that we can make a difference, Dr. Stanley encourages readers to get down on their knees to pray, then get up on their feet and become involved. We must take action to turn our country away from one that:
    · Is headed for financial bankruptcy

    · Views a sinless, peace-loving, benevolent Jesus as one to be vilified

    · Is becoming more and more taxed, so that the government builds programs that benefit only those in leadership positions

    · Is negligent in the handling of Israel, as well as unaware of the danger to any nation that challenges Israel’s God-mandated right to exist

    · Has little regard for the innocent, especially the rights of the unborn, the elderly, and the handicapped

This call to action has never been more needed, and in this inspirational and motivating book, bestselling author Charles Stanley offers practical steps Christians can take to turn the tide. He challenges readers to pray that God will change the direction of our country from one that is blind to the negative impact of socialism to a nation that looks to God for guidance. It’s time, Stanley says, that we take responsibility for the direction of our country and become involved both at a civic level and through fervent prayer.

I never Thought I'd see the Day by David Jeremiah

Is Western civilization in an accelerating decline? And if it continues will it eventually weaken and cause us to come to the end of cultured civilization as we now know it? "Yes," says David Jeremiah, and in his book, I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THE DAY! he details numerous signs of this cultural decay including:

    America held hostage by Iran
    Marriage becoming obsolete
    Creeping socialism
    The invisibility of culture's enemies
    Increase in "spiritual warfare"
America turning its back on Israel
    Atheist attack on religion
Can this downward spiral be reversed? Yes, but only if one person at a time returns to God with our heart, our manner of life, our dedication to genuine worship of God, in serving God by helping others, in our giving, and in prayer.

 on Dr. Jeremiah's book. The chapter on atheism alone is worth the price of the book IMHO.

Have you spoken out yet? I sent some emails yesterday. These political and high offices will probably ignore them but if all of us on this board spoke out they may not. Dr. Stanley has a chapter in his book on speaking out. Please do so as it can make a difference! The Jeremiah book is awesome and probably the best of the three. However the other 2 are good as well so go get yourself copies they are worth it.

Yes we need to contact our leaders. I have written many times and continue. Until they get the debt in the black I am calling for them to cut their pay in half, do away with all their benefits unless they pay for them and stop spending more then is taken in.

IMHO letter writing and e-mailing does little good unless it is en masse.

We have a better chance of turning things around with a God-sent revival.

Rule of thumb is that for every "one" correspondence to an elected official it translates out to reflect the thoughts and position(s) of a thousand constituents. Accordingly, if a thousand people all correspond with the same issue that equates to enough votes to lose an election for that individual.

As for a revival, yes, that would certainly help. In the meantime stay in touch with your poli-tickens.

Well you can't make God send a revival, but you can write your leaders and one thing is for sure not doing anything claiming you are just one person is a sure fire way to get nothing done.

Before we assume in our arrogance that God is for us we need to read this....
God told Joshua he wasn't for or against Israel in their battle to take the land of Canaan... why?

Because it wasn't about Israel.. it was all about GOD!

GOD has a plan.. we as a country shouldn't plan then ask God to side with us.. we need to fall on our knees and find out what God's plan is for us... and then go with it...

And you know what? God's plan for America might not be what we want.... what would you do then... WHAT IF God want's America to be destroyed? Would you stand with God or fight against him....

The Core of Christianity has shifted from the West to the East in the World. Africa is rising up in Christian revival.. is this a sign that America's influence in Christianity is waning?

Instead of Writing politicians and telling them to do what we want.. or what we assume God wants.. we need to first find out what God wants...

Is God on America's side, or our enemies sides? We assume he is on our side.. but are we sure? Why would God be on our side versus other countries sides? What makes America so Godly... and remember God in the past history of the world has chosen nations to rise and fall.. nations that make no sense to us...

Often? I'd say always during the church age. There are Christians in just about every nation. God judges people, not nations.

If you do a study of scripture you will finds that is incorrect. He also judges nations and has done so many times.

As far as sending correspondence, I am not one for just signing a pre-printed form. To me they mean nothing. Wright a letter in your own words.

Also, more Christians should consider running for public office.

In the county I am in, there are 15 towns each with a supervisor (mayor) and a council of 3-9 people each, and we have a county legislature of 19 seats.

Approximately 1/2 of all those positions up for election next Tuesday are un-opposed. that is a shame.

Get involved with your local political party and consider running for office - starting with your school board.

I'm sure the boy with a small lunch said that he meant nothing. But Jesus used him and fed the 5,000.

Actually the pay of Congress is such a minute portion of the budget - it would be like saying by taking the spare tire out your car - the gas mileage will increase.
