About two years ago I made this post....:

    http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?p=1494720&highlight=nuances#post1494720

....where I associated myself with the Calvinists.

I am not a Calvinist, I am a Primitive Baptist.

I do this for the sole reason that I do not want the designation of 'hyper' to be applied to my Calvinist brothers and sisters on account of my Primitive Baptist beliefs.

    That's all folks. :)

ky I enjoy reading your posts and i appreciate the grace and composure you and p4t [and (most) all Calvinistic bros.] display when "under fire":) I consider myself just a Christian, but the years I've studied, I can't help but have become Calvinistic [I think anyone who truly searches for Scriptural truth can't help but become Calvinistic] but I don't like labels other than Christian.....God bless

Why, thank you for the kind words, I'm not sure about the 'grace and composure' on my part though.... :)

Call it what you will, it is still doctrinal error at it's worse.

Same here. I've had my moments.

Jeremiah2911, thank you for the kind words.

Thanks also for your candor here in what you've said, including where study has lead you. I've had to drop a lot of my personally held beliefs, and had to be humbled under what the Word really says.

kyredneck, I count you a brother, and a great student of the Scriptures, and even so still, though we have differences of opinion in eschatology.

I think the greatest thing above being named Calvinist and our brand of Baptist is "chosen in Him."

    - Peace

Again, it not ONLY, but the BEST way to model/view the scriptures, as regarding Sotierology!

Just curious, would the doctrine of when/how God regenerates us being main difference between cals and the PB?

The Mormons and the Jehovah's Witnesses say the same thing, but they too are wrong!

We glean our understanding from the Bible, and from the illuminating work of the Holy Spirit!

That's the main difference, PBs hold to immediate or direct regeneration, the Reformed camp (as do the Arminians, nonCal, freewillers, etc.) holds to gospel or external means regeneration.

So PB hold that God can/does regenerate us directly bythe work of HS, while others hold that He does that thru the Gospel message?

Now this is a statement I can agree wholeheartedly with. In my study, however, I do not see Calvinism in the scripture.

My dear brother KtyRed.......In my eyes you have been more of a Calvinist than many Calvinists I know.....IE you are committed to salvation by Grace (NOT A BAD THING):D

And as we say in NJ "forgetta bout it".....of course there are other F words that can be used:laugh::laugh:

I feel the same way--the Truth is humbling....I don't think very many on this board hold to open theism, yet many argue at how cruel "Calvinism" is.....I don't know how a person gets from point A [God's sovereignty and foreknowledge] to point B [eternity] without some pain, and I've felt it....just because it hurts doesn't make it not so....I do appreciate you, ky, jbh, jf etc posts--I am learning a lot--I also enjoy the other sides posts as well, but they kind of remind me of Pilates famous line "What is truth?" :)
    God bless

    AMEN!

Ignorance huh? At least it's my own ignorance and not Calvin's ignorance. You evidently don't know enough about what you believe without identifying with the ignorance of someone else. :tongue3:
