I noticed that tonight the candidates are not battaling each other.

In fact, several times they would say, Well, I agree with....

I noticed (yet again) that Michelle Bachmann does not answer the question. She's got a canned speech ready to go when certain keywords are included in the question. A good example was this exchange:

Moderator: "Congresswoman Bachmann, if you were President how would you get China to open up to importing U.S. goods?"

Bachmann: "We've got to be careful with China. Recently they dumped millions of counterfeit computer chips into the United States. Some of those chips were eventually found in Defense Department computers, so it was a national security issue. Do you know that the interest on the debt that we are paying to the Chinese is enough money to build one of their aircraft carriers? We are so in hock to the Chinese that our interest payments on the debt they hold with us will finance their entire army."

Nothing about trade with China was mentioned in her response.

Huntsman said that Mittens was pandering to Americans when Mittens called for a tarriff on Chinese goods. Ron Paul was asked if Rick Perry practiced crony capitalism in Texas and Paul said he didn't know because he hadn't fully studied the issue.

I was not going to vote for Perry, but I feel very sorry for him.

Coaching speakers is one of my hobbies, I enjoy finding ways to help people improve. This was a classic case of "leaky brain syndrome." I have seen this a number of times by people of various skill levels. Every time I see it, my heart hurts for them. One lady, newer in her speaking career, went in the back to cry. Eventually, she spoke again but it was dramatic. This is horrifying and I feel sorry for Perry as I did her.

However, this is the "big stage". I know he knew the three points, but he is not fresh and engaging. Obama would eat him alive. You must be able to engage people in this position, and it is a qualification he failed to meet.

Come November 9, 2012 when President Obama is celebrating his second term there will be a meeting in the RNC HQ that will discuss how these umpteen debates lost the election for the GOP after the Democrata gift-wrapped and delivered it to them.

There isn't a candidate in the field, include Romney who will be the nominee, who will be able to best President Obama.

Curious; do you say that as one who supports Obama, or because you don't think there's a viable republican candidate?

I doubt I would ever place a bet based on a political poll (unless I was running & then would bet against me :tongue3: ) but polls can give us a general overview.

Oh, I think the current administration is terrible. They've patently disregarded the founding principles of this nation and are enacting laws that continue to push our country down a road to social oblivion.

But the Republicans have no better answer.

Both parties are to blame and until the voting public gets it in their heads that we are in this mess because of both parties collusion to defraud them we won't see anything good from Washington.

The only way to fix the system is to vote every incumbent out of office for the next five election cycles.

The President is winning the media war right now. The RNC is destroying each other and acting like idiots in front of the cameras. All the while President Obama is putting into place pieces of a systematic agenda to show undecideds, the only voters who matter, that he's still delivering in his promises.

12 months from now the results will show that this is true.

The big question: Will Romney be able to win over undecided voters and energize the base of the RNC?

    Nope

Right now I reluctantly have to agree with you. Mittens is going to be the nominee because he will be the last man standing and it is "his turn". Get ready for 4 more years of "fundamentally changing the country."

I find it incredible that the Republicans are agreeing to having all these debates. They look like fools.

Rick Perry's beliefs are not his beliefs. They are what is convenient for the time. He has no clue about what he even talks about because he has no real interest. He just latches onto something and runs his mouth and last night his brain sold him out.

My name's already mud concerning this topic, so I don't really care, so I'll throw it out the way I see it. There is no ''center' anymore, no compromise, it's either far to the left or far to the right.

Marxists on one side, Zionists on the other. Two faces of the same entity.

I like to think there are some who hold the center...and the vast majority who have no clue and just do whatever "feels right" at the moment.

I agree with this classification. Of course I mention the center again, since I'm neither of these groups. Particularly I think we need to make a difference between political Israel and spiritual Israel. Just sayin

    Good points btw.

Basically what we have is a bunch of people (republicans) who see an overwhelming problem and have no idea how to fix it. So they just put together some ideas that they hope will fool the public one more time into electing a new President.
Then later on the President is going to come along and try and convince the voters that his failures are because of the other party and we need 4 more years him blaming the other side.

The truth is both sides are at fault and neither side can correct it as it has went too far. The issue is not if we will fail as a nation because of the irresponsible acts of our leaders, but when.

We just have to decide which group of Judas goats we are going to elect to lead us further down this path of destruction.

I agree both sides have no clue, and I agree that they will not do what needs to be done. However, I do not think we have gone beyond the point of "no-return." I think we are running as fast as we can to that point, but we are not there.... yet.

The sad thing is, we will be forced to make dramatic changes if we don't make great changes now.

BTW, I think a couple of people have a clue. Unfortunately, they won't get elected.

Why is it that so many always draw that line be "D" & "R"?

Granted there generally is commitment to the political party. However, there are liberal R's and conservative D's with a few libertarian stuck in there. I would like to think they are voting what they think is the best for the USA. I understand that many are only considering the next election. Others consider large segments of their constituents - thus other caucuses such as black, women, ect.

Bottom line, we have 435 separate individuals and often with different values.
