Joey's thread sparked me to think this:

If you could not attend a baptist church, what type of church would find the most agreement with?

I'll start. I have come in contact with a few Grace Brethrens, and I think I could accept the tripple-dipping baptism and footwashings.

Also, a solid Bible church would Probably be Ok, esp. if it were like James McDonald's Harvest Bible Chapel.

    Your thoughts?

If I could not attend a Reformed Baptist church, I would look for a Baptist church that teaches the DoG. If I could not find a Baptist church that teaches the DoG I would look for a Reformed church that is evangelical in nature. In my area that would probably be an OPC or PCA Presbyterian church; but I would still be a Baptist in my convictions.

Are we talking merely attending a Brethren/Presbyterian/Independent church or actually being a Brethren/Presbyterian/Independent?

I know this is all just theoretical of course:laugh:

My first thought is Presbyterian, but not all Presby churches are the same. I think a conversation with the pastor would be in order first.

Probably an Evangelical Free church or a non-denominational church that is wholly Baptist except in name only. Either way it would need to be non-Cal and solid in Bible teaching and preaching.

would probably be able to attend an Evangelical Free Church, even though they espouse "free grace" doctrine!

As I would find it easier to "swallow hard" and under stand that non Cals have some really good theology IF can "ignore" their sotierology!

AS I would see their eschatology/church govt /believers baptism/freedom in spiritual Gifts etc!
