You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves."
    — Abraham Lincoln

Though widely attributed to Lincoln, this was actually written by William John Henry Boetcker a Presbyterian minister, who first published them in 1916. But that doesn't make the statements any less true!

Actually it was Samuel B. Morse in 1836 who invented the internet and the then TCP/IP binary based codified language called "Morse Code" which fulfils the basic definition of "internet"

A translatable binary coded electrical impulse sent over an electronic media connected by two or more receiving/transmitting stations (or something close to that, I don't have my books or notes immediately on hand for this).

BTW, don't blame me for this definition. I got this information from a graduate course in Computer Science.

Plus, there is a rumor that he (Morse) got the idea of his binary coding technique from the Native Americans (smoke signals).
