Naughty and Nice list

    The AFA has posted their naughty and nice list for retail stores that either respect Christmas or remove Christmas in their stores or online. Do you plan on steering clear of stores on the naughty side? There are a few big names on this side of the list, but gladly very few. Office Depot, Old Navy and Walgreens are a few of the bigger names. I don't shop frequently at any of these but I will make it a point not to give them my money. What do you say?

    Forgive me, but :sleep::sleeping_2:.

    Christmas means commercialization more than Christ to most so I'm almost thankful for the stores that ignore the holiday. Maybe I am just getting crotchety in my old age.

    Absolutely! I will not do business with any store that takes a public stand against the Lord or his values. I also write them and let them know why.

    Oh, having Christmas stuff in a store is taking a stand for Christ - not having Christmas stuff in a store is not taking a stand for Christ - ya right!

    Show me a company that is taking a stand for Christ - it is commercialism and little else.

    Maybe Chick-fil-a and a very few others.

    The point is that the naughty stores take Christ out of their stores on purpose and call Christmas something different. They want the sales without acknowledging the Christ of Christmas. They have the right to do that and AFA isn't saying it is wrong, they are just bringing it to listeners attention so they can boycott them if they choose to do so. Which I do plan on doing and I hope other Christians do as well.

    2 things I have learned in regards to this, lost people act like lost people, and boycotts are worthless. Who here thinks Jesus would boycott these stores? Silly

    I say, careful there; you're giving Walgreeens a bad rap...they are on the green list.

    I had to check because I know the one, or at least the employees at the one in my neighborhood don't hold back.

    My comments were to the following, not yours Sola: "Absolutely! I will not do business with any store that takes a public stand against the Lord or his values."

    Its not like other stores are taking a public stand FOR the Lord! They, for the most part, as the article mentioned USE "Christmas" to sell to Christians which is as bad as not using Christmas for whatever reason some business don't do it for. Both get to the customers anyway they can.

    Is USING Christmas any better than not using it?

    The article mentioned: "If a company's ad has references to items associated with Christmas (trees, wreaths, lights, etc.), it was considered as an attempt to reach "Christmas" shoppers."

    There are both lost and saved "Christmas" shoppers. Why does trying to reach lost and saved alike with product to sell basis for one of the groups boycotting those that don't do likewise? Seems their criteria was even a little Commercialized. :)

    "Christmas" as celebrated in America, is all about "what can I get", and "how much money can I make". It's worldy. Take the word Christmas out and you have the same holiday. Can you worship Jesus without buying things?

    WalMart has been on my list since...

    ....they stopped wishing people greetings for the holidays.

    Thanks for the info, it is good to make a solid front when we are put on notice of such things!

    Ditto. With all we have to deal with how a store chooses to market Christmas is meaningless to me.

    In fact, if I were to be real picky I would be upset at the companies who use the name of my Saviour to make a few euro (or dollars, or pounds, or yen)

    Capitalising on my Saviour's work? How can that be a good thing?

    These companies on the "nice" list aren't using the word Christmas in support of Jesus Christ or recognition of Him as Lord and Savior. (Possibly the only exception being Hobby Lobby or Chick-Filet). They are using the word to make a holiday buck and draw in customers. They are exploiting the word Christmas for commerical gain. Period. End of story.

    How do I KNOW that some of these "nice" companies are not pro-Christ?

    Amazon.com used to sell a Japanese video game that involved raping women to score points. Also, if they got pregnant, you scored point for forcing them to have an abortion and you scored extra points if you got other players to help you gang rape her.

    Here is how the the game was described by Amazon.com on its site.
    Amusing? Rape is amusing? Amazon.com sells MUCH more objectionable material than this.

    Also, Hallmark has long sold "coming out" cards for homosexuals and homosexual wedding cards. They also have traditionally sold cards with much sexual innuendo. (Cards I wouldn't send my mother.)

    Neiman Marcus is a strong supporter of Planned Parenthood, causing them to have already been boycotted by Concerned Woman of America.

    I don't care if a store has "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" as their bait tactics to get a customer to spend money there.

    Jesus Christ and His holy name should never be used for avarice's sake nor should his name be used like a carnival side-show barker to attract a crowd for materialistic gain.

    And that's the ONLY reason these companies have the words "Merry Christmas" displayed in their stores.
