Seeking text-based correspondence degree

    i like the Andersonville theological seminary ..... but their courses are mp3 only
    so i am seeking a similar degree course that uses textbooks
    - must be also affordable as Anderson (great monthly fees)
    - very scriptural (and not as easy as many here claim)
    - that share the baptist faith

    .... any recommendations?

    the others mentioned here are too expensive (over $10,000)!!

    I don't know that you are going to find this cake and eat it too. If you are impressed w/ Andersonville, then maybe you should just stay with them. What degree are you thinking about?

    PS-I am in no way endorsing Andersonville... at all!

    You might want to check out Covington Theological Seminary. They also have class based studies avaliable in many places in the South.

    When I attended Global University 10+ years ago they did the program completely through workbooks & textbooks. I don't know if that is still the format. It was a classic corresponding model. You could check them out.

    They are DETC accredited and I think they recently received regional accreditation as well. They are a fairly low cost option for distance education biblical training (A.A. - M.Div.) with accreditation.

    I think you might look into Covington Theological Seminary. They are not accredited but they are not a degree mill either. It just depends on the reason you want the degree.

    i just saw global's site .... looks like they nickel and dime you (milk you) for lots of money (and you NEVER know exactly how much it all costs!! ... Covington is not clear about its fees either .....

    i like to smile when i study... hey, do these have a smiling fees also?

    and so ... the search goes on.

    I get contracted by local churches in admin capacities, but many insist i have academic bible training .... Bachelor of Theology is my choice (or Bachelor in Ministries)

    Andersonville is clear about their fees, very straight forward about it .... and they dont try to sneak in another way to milk your hard earned money (from the start you know EXACTLY how much it all will cost you) about $1,100 ... $150 down, $50/month (nice!)

    however ..... lessons are by CD in mp3, so it is tiring to have to rewind constantly just to be able to hear what he says .... drives me crazy

    I wish schools would use PDF files ... saves printing/shipping costs for them .... and its easier to follow for students.

    oh.... but that is just dreaming!

    Many secular online schools use that, but christians wont (trust me, they wont!)

    remember: it was the religious folks who killed christ -- not the secular crowd (which defended him)

    so guess who is killing my dream (of an ideal christian training) ??

    ANY OTHER TIPS ???

    ps: thanks to all who gave me pointers so far, however, i do appreciate your try
