As my wife and I follow his principles for money stewardship, but does he really articulate a Cross centered message on his show?

Doesn't he seem to imply that God will is that ALL believers be wealthy, which is NOT a biblcal doctrine?

Just asking, how God has raised him up, but is he really delivering the full message god wants him to give?

    That is a ridiculous assumption.

    Agreed!

I've never heard him say anything like he wants all Christians to be wealthy. We use FPU and have hosted a few simulcasts. I've never heard or read this, it is an false accusation.

What he does teach is good stewardship. He wants people to be free from financial bondage so they can live stronger, Jesus loving lives.

He does teach very helpful, practical principles.

As far as the "Christian" element of his message, well, it's a whole bunch of little snippets of Scripture taken out of context. It's almost like it's a feeble effort to baptize his program so that Christians will like it.

I don't really think that Ramsey's program is intended to be "Christian" other than he stems from a Christian background. He does most of his work in and through churches, but he is not a preacher nor a Bible teacher. He works with issues of finance and that through a biblical perspective, "the borrower is a lsave to the lender" and "give to the Lord an offering."

I am surprised that has to be explained.

i have been listening to him for few yeras now, and agree with much of his financial teachings, but also seems to imple that we based financial decisions upon how much income the position would have, as he seems to imple, to me at least, that all Christians would become wealthy as will of God if we apply his principles...

good to be debt free, good to give and invest, but most of us will not be gifted by god to be the "really wealthy saints"

    Temptest in a tea pot.

Dave is a friend and an execellent Christian brother who is ministering to people with biblical and practical principles. I have never heard him imply the nonsense of the health-and-wealth agenda.

I would challenge you for specific instances and direct citations. This is a pretty big accusation and you are making it in light of the rest of us saying he doesn't say these things.

Maybe you should learn how to spell Dave Ramsey before you draw false and unsubstantiated conclusions about him.

I am NOT accusing him of not being a Brother in the Lord, nor did NOT say that his financial ministry was not valid so far as regarding monies/budgeting etc...

was just concerned that he seems to implie that ALL should be wealthy monies wise as Christians, and that based upon those whom he recommands as being good teachers might have a "less than" view of other aspects of the faithoutside of biblical finances? For example Joel osteen as a good teacher?

"The hand of the diligent makes rich." Being rich is having more than enough. Americans assume rich is having possessions. I have seen those who are rich in terms of money and those who have a lot of wealth who are poor spiritually. I have also seen the lazy poor, and the poor who were rich in faith.

A selfish person does not give but a person who is diligent has more than he needs and can help others.

Several years ago we were in a church who help a lady whose husband had a brain tumor and would die. The people in the church helped to take care of her husband and children and paid for her schooling so she could get a nursing degree and be able to provide for her family. That church had something to give. In fact it was always giving to others.

No and I can only speak for myself. If I were debt free I would have more money and a lot less junk.

Why is it that you can continue to question Ramsey, his ministry, and broader teaching ethics without offering any evidence or citations for your claims?

Listen, Ramsey is a fine teacher who helps countless numbers of believers and non-believers follow biblical guidelines for financial management. He goes out of his way to reach across religious and ideological boundaries and has developed a wonderful platform to show genuine, Gospel centered principles that help others. Right now you're impugning that ministry and for no good reason.

So let's see your proof of this.

Again, I amNOT saying anything about Dave NOT being a Christian, NOT having biblical financial teachings etc...

My concern is that he seems to assume that God will is that all believers are meant to be really rich money wise, and that he at times he has endorsed as being good teachers those not holding to biblcal things, such as a Joel osteen!

We know that the Lord has chosen a few to be really wealthy, as they can 'handle it", not ensnared with a lust for money, but as the bible states, not "many" of the saints are rich as considered by the World, as God delights in using the baser things to comfound those who see themselves wise in this age!

    1. I have not heard Dave R. advocate the health & wealth gospel.

    2. I do know that he does endorse at least one of Joel osteen's books.

    3. He also has advocated that a young father take on extra jobs to get out of debt faster, and interviews one such father who is working 3 jobs, not to make ends meet, but to pay down debt faster. This father is working the majority of the time that his wife and kids are awake, and so is missing their lives for the most part. Dave emphasizes this is temporary, but the fact that this is lifted up as the pattern to follow is, I believe, problematic in that it places financial stabilty above family commitments.

Dave's point is that getting into debt was the original error now one must do what it takes to right the wrong.

he also being in debt as being in sin, which is not biblical!

Should NOT be in debt to others, but is not a sin such as one of the Commandments being broken!

dave also tends to "look down" at people willing to a lower pay in order to do what they think is will of God, as he usually says ok to take less IF only for a "temp time", even when the other person going to be say yoyth pastor, teacher in private school etc, where salaries will be lower than the norm!
