...it happened to Kurt Warner, and now it's happening to Tim Tebow. It seems the more prominent the star, the more they become the butt of personal jokes and the more public criticism they take for being a believer and not being afraid to show their love for Jesus.

    SEE: http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2011-12-18/minor-miracle-tebow-earns-some-cred-losing-to-brady

While this is a positive story (the attached link), it is not an exaggeration to say the Tebowing has been the focal point of seemingly erevy sports talk show, national television shows, and late-night comedians for the past six or seven weeks.

Is it wrong, from your point of view, for a prominent sports personality to give public praise and credit to God for their achievements?

While I'm not trying to draw anyone here into a debate, I'm just wanting to know what some of you think regarding this latest Tebow phenomenon. Should believers make their faith known on the public forum?

Every Christian should give witness of their faith everyday, in all they do, to give "praise and credit to God".

    Question?

Are we discussing Tim's genuine expressions of faith or 'tebowing'
which is nothing more than 'christian' planking?

I'm with you on this one, Roger

I believe the hype is on "copycats"-----------believing that if THEY do as Tebow----they can't loose!!!

Its sorta the same as individual pastors who take something like Prayer of Jabez or Purpose Driven(whatever) and use it in their environment like the originators----they can have the same exact results!!!!

I disagree. "Tebowing" was how he praised God and thanked God. Others made it into a type of "planking" but not Tebow. He has been doing that for years before others popularized it.

I disagree but there are always those who are legalistic and believe they are entitled to say how others may express their faith.

This is a hard call to make unless you know the intent or purpose of the one doing the demonstrating. Is this any different from Albert Pujols giving the sign of the cross or pointing to the heavens after a positive play or the scores of other NFL player who do the same. I certainly admire TT and wish him well and he has handled all the hype well. I do belive I heard him say that God did not favor one team over another but he drew from God for his strength and inspiration. Irreguardless of the intent or purpose they both have their reward.

It is NEVER wrong to give God the praise, glory, and honor that is due Him--privately or publicly. There are WAY too many using "God" or "Jesus Christ" as profanity and cursing His name. We need to hear more people publicly praising Him and giving Him the praise for blessings.
