...James Williams of Matagorda County, Texas recounts a touching true story. Living in a still prejudice Texas In 1972, his wife had a complication with her pregnancy. No doctors would care for her or deliver their bi-racial child. In fact one of the hospital nurses called the police on James.

Dr. Ron Paul was notified and took her in, delivering their stillborn baby. Because of the compassion of Dr. Ron Paul, the Williams' never received a hospital bill for the delivery...

I am glad he did this. But he still needs to give a reasonable account for making money off of a paper that printed racist comments in his name. All he has said to date is that he does not share those views. Not good enough. What did he do about it when he discovered it? Why did he allow a paper to print such questionable things and he not have any concern for what was going on in a paper that he both profited from and it bore his name.

It's a good thing Ronald Reagan is dead, so you won't have to make HIM account for the same papers.

Not sure how that is relevant but if he were running for President in 2012 and he was also involved in this with RP then I would ask the same questions of him.

There are enough newsletter threads going already. If you have a racist action by him, by all means post it. If you are just going to throw this newsletter controversy around, and let that do your speaking for you, perhaps one of those threads will more suit what you want to talk about ? because it is clear your mind is made up.

You started a thread about RP helping a mixed race couple deliver a baby. I can only figure that this is a response to criticism of RP and his newsletters. Otherwise it serves no real purpose. The only thing I have my mind made up on is that RP is refusing to address the issue in detail. I believe he could have done just what he said but then that brings up leadership issues and his ability to be responsible.

Second, he HAS amnswered, just not in the manner you demand.

But you ARE willing to give NEWT a pass on words that have come out of his own mouth.

Are you afraid Dr. Paul will govern as a racist ? What exactly will he do ?

It is a political thread, and I put up a political post.

What racist laws has he helped put into place ?

Would having two ex-wives make him more responsible, in your eyes ?

How has his leadership in the H.O.R. been affected by his racism ? Got anything concrete ?

In a time of certain questions about him.

None that I am aware of or that such an idea is even a question regarding him. But that does not address the newsletter issue

No, but being repentant openly and pubically about either issue would go along way.

An informal fallacy and false premise. I have never said he is a racist nor have I ever implied it. Again my concern is that he simply wants the past dismissed without and clear explanation. Whatever the issue is there it looks bad.

Anyhow if I have taken this thread in a different direction than you intended that was not my intention.

    God Bless

A person can't change his personality in 40 years? Every person's position evolves. That's life!

Even if he were a racist, Ron Paul would govern according to the Constitution.

    THAT's what scares everyone.

That is correct and a large amount of people in this country have the same concern.

Really? A pass on what? I am not a Newt supporter. In fact I am not excited about anyone in this race.

No, but there appears to be something amiss with no real explanation. I don't know what it is since his response is vague and little.

I think you sell yourself short by taking other people's words for what he did. To me, the O/P wipes out any racial concerns. Turns out he is LESS racist than even the hospitals were, in 1972, the time these letters were written.

And it seems a large amount of people support the guy, despite the cries of racism in his past.

I don't know what that means.

    Ok? Can't argue with that.

Again true but racism is not the whole of the issue.
