Dr. Charles Stanley was speaking to me tonight in his book and what I like about him is that Christ and His word is his sufficiency and authority in life. I believe that God does wish to bless me and you. But to do so you must turn to God alone, and His word for your sufficiency. Throw out the secular humanism, and the self help motivational methods that rely on human power, rather than the sufficiency of Christ and the power of prayer. The Bible alone is the sole authority, and the battle is done on your knees. You want to get out of debt? Pray for it and take action. You want to get out of your parents basement and get a career job? Pray for it and take action. God will bless you for what you need, but you must rely on Him alone.

Getting laid off may have been the best thing that has happened to me. Thinking of myself to a time in 1997 when I was a low dishwasher. Imagine if I was still doing that? God moved me up and out of that, and I hope He plans to do so again, so I can better use my talents, abilities, to make a better life for myself. Ran into a gal today at church that is still living at home, and working at a low end job. I do not wish to be someone who cant grow and develop myself and my career. Need ambition, passion, vision, and a way to advance. But the power to do so is the Holy Spirit. Maybe this is posted in the wrong board but I want to encourage people here to use this new year as a way to better yourself and your career.

The power to do anything is in the Holy Spirit & in the name of Jesus. Why does it take Charles Stanley to teach you this? May I suggest Dr. Martyn Lloyd Jones Book "Spiritual Depression" you can get it in Paperback ....MLJ would never stoop to humanism....Its total reliance on the Lord.

Another good primer book would be the Holy Spirit by Billy Graham, as he explains the purpose and power of Him for us today!

Know that he was "used" by those in WoF/Kingdom Now, as they claim he knew about the Kingdom of God for here and now , but NOT its power...

of couse, they were wrong on that, as he knew about Christ and the HS for today, not the heretical doctrines they espoused!

I'm sure you didn't mean for this to sound a little condescending but it does to me. Why does it take Martyn Lloyd Jones to teach YOU this?

In other words, there is truth to the adage, "God helps them who help themselves."

Yeah I know, But if God opens the door to a better and more fulfilling career then take it. If not then be content.

"I want to encourage people here to use this new year as a way to better yourself and your career."

I am glad you seem to be doing well after a few battles, but this all sounds very selfish, like it's all about you. It's all about Him. Jesus said "Seek first the Kingdom, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." "Deny yourself to become like Him." God already knows what you need, this is praying amiss. "God helps them who help themselves." is the Phrasees leaven, and the worlds motto, beware friend.
