    If I remember correctly, Spector lied about the position he would actually take on Obamacare.

    Still, no clear thinking conservative would have ever trusted Spector. He was a traitor to many conservative causes over the years.

    I've voted for Rick Santorum (for Senate) in the past;
    he's conservative, no doubt about it...

    ...so conservative that he wasn't re-elected in his own state of Pennsylvania.

    From the article:

    Conservative criticism of Specter appeared justified. Specter backed Obama’s healthcare program — giving him the swing vote to pass the legislation in the Senate.

    Sorry, but no. Obamacare was passed by the Senate 60-39. The number of Senate votes needed to pass the bill was 51. Specter's vote wouldn't have mattered. Article fails. Not surprised, since it is Newsmax.

    Now that Santorum is surging are the Ron Paulites getting nervous?

    I'm not. It would be a huge surprise to me if RP were to get the nomination. I've always thought it was going to be Romney in the end.

    I'm still voting for him though.

    Even if Ron Paul loses, his freedom message is here to stay, and so is his son:

    Not so. Cloture, my friend. Had Specter been against Obamacare, they could have stopped it via filibuster. It takes 60 votes to push a bill through.

    Do we know the Senate would have filibustered?

    Santorum endorsed Specter in 2004 based on Specter's pledge to confirm Bush's court appointments. In 2009 Specter said he was against Obamacare and then changed his mind 2 months later.

    Really, if you are going to lay Obamacare on Rick Santorum you have a long and winding road to reach this conclusion. But that's about par for the course for most of Ron Paul's positions on the issues.

    No, I wouldn't lay Obamacare at his door. I was just correcting you on the facts.

    My problems with Santorum is: #1 His refusal to scale back troop involvement overseas, and thus the inevitable downfall of our country, and #2 His wishy-washiness on his abortion stance. (Such as vigorously campaigning for Christine Todd Whitman, who vigorously opposed, among other things, a ban on partial birth abortion).
