God honors all marriages as He created it and sanctified it. But we are told not to be unequally yoked to unbelievers because of the many problems it will cause. The unbeliever will most likely pull the believer down rather than the believer lifting the unbeliever up.
So marrying an unbeliever would be disobedience to God, yet God still sanctifies the marriage and holds both parties responsible to be obedient to Him.

Hbr 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

    yes!

Christians, in order to receive the BEST of God for their lives, to be in the perfect Will of God, should ONLY marry fellow believcers!

    BUT

if unequally yoked right now, God still honord that, and for you now,m that IS the perfect will of God for your partner!

. The children of two lost people are unclean even if married shows that the marriage is not sanctified.
    1 Cor 7
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

God honors and sees ANY marriage as being "holy" and NOT to be defiled!

2 Christians, or 2 unsaved marry..

BOTH relationships seen by god as being legal and valid unions, its just that the Christians also are brides of Christ!

The istitution of marriage was given by god to ALL of mankind, its just that Christians have "special/extra" rules in effect for it to run the way God intends for it to be run!

Marriage is ordained, but not all marriages are holy.

define what you mean by "Holy"

As God sees all marriages done by recogozed authorities as being valid as in real union between husband and wife!

    Not according to scripture.

For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

That means when two people are lost and married their children are unclean because the marriage is not holy. When one person is a Christian the children are sanctified becauase of the one Christian.

Freeatlast- It might be helpful if you would give your definition of:
    1. Holy.
    2. Sanctified.
    3. Clean/unclean.

    Thanks.

Just use the biblical definitions. This is no different then anything that a lost person does. For instance the Lord's table is sanctified by God. However if a lost person takes it their taking of of is not holy, sanctified, or clean. The same with a marriage between two lost people. God does not honor, or sanctify marriage between the lost.
Yes they are married but they are unholy marriages. It is no difference then if it were two men or two women or a man and a woman. A marriage between two people who are lost is not sanctified.
Not only that but the act of getting married between a lost person and a saved person is not sanctified. After it is done the lost person is sanctified (not saved) so that the children are not unclean. However they are only sanctified unto the marriage and not in all things.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

That is not true. Nothing a lost person is ever holy, sanctified or holy. The institution of marriage is holy, sanctified and clean but the lost make it unholy, unsanctified and unclean.

The same with the Lord's table. I tis holy, sanctified, and clean. If a lost person takes it their taking of it is unholy, not sanctified and unclean. The same principle applies to marriage.

    FAL,

I think it woud be wise for you to cite some Scriptures that would support your thoughts on marriage.

I am not in disagreement, rather more wondering what the Scriptures actually give as total support in commands from God versus opinions for the time(s).

For instance, in the days of the most Scripture writings, the woman rarely chose who they were to marry.

But, there also seems to be a transitional and social upheaval time that I think Paul is offering an opinion as indicated in the statement he made, "I have no commandment of the Lord."

Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.
I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress, I say, that it is good for a man so to be.
Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

I take it that the "present distress" was the rising persecution of the believers and that Paul is saying it is better to go through these times without being distracted and worried by the conditions and treatment of a mate. But, if you must marry, marry.

Therefore, I think it wise that you state specifically from Scriptures what is by command, what is by example, and what is by opinion (like Paul as I illustrated).

It will benefit the readers and provide them something of foundational to build their own thinking upon.

The institution of marriage is always holy (set apart to God) regardless of what the people do. It is the person that becomes unclean, not the institution of marriage. What God has joined together, let no man separate.

A lost person cannot make the Lord's table unclean. Only the person is unclean.

the istitution of marriage ITSELF is what is set apert/holy before the Lord...

HE made it to be applied to ALL people...

You by mistake apply the terms 'Holy/sauntify etc" to the marriage relationship...

God applies all of those to it in sense of being ina Covenant relationship with HIM... Only saved peoples are in that

Unsaved ARE though intocovenant relationship of marriage in general!

When did the first marriage occur, and who instigated it?

Was that first marriage a product of sin or not?

How does marriage equate to the gospel (Eph 5)?

regardless, aren't all marriages, if done by recoginized authority, vaslid and honored by God?

He WOULD indeed want ONLY Christians to marrym that is His best will, but IF chose to disobey and marry "out of the faith", doesn;t he than still view that as between a real marriage relationship?

I believe once married whether with the approval of God or not they together have become one flesh. Marriage is a death do they part arrangement in the eyes of God. That’s why it's called Holy Matrimony.

. Children coming from marriages where the parents are not saved are illegitimate (unclean). The reason is the marriage is not sanctified of the Lord. When at least one person in a marriage is a Christian then the children are not unclean, but that still does not justify marring a lost person.
    1Cor 7
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

    Hebrews 12
But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
