We all have heard about Tim Tebow, and like it or not he is a news maker.

Not because of his amazing skills or abilities, but from that fact that he is the underdog that keeps coming out on top.

It causes me joy to see him winning, simply because I know that he’s #1 desire in the game is to see Jesus made much of.

Over 45 million people watched the game on Sunday (that is the most to watch an opening play off since 1988) WHY?
WHO CARES? People are drawn to this man named Tim Tebow. Just a few days ago so many people were saying “Tim, bring it down….tone the religious talk down…stop doing it…etc…”

    Did he?

    Nope.

He maintained his passion/conviction and as a result of it, GOD GOT THE GLORY.
He was not allowed to even wear his signature “John 3:16″ verse under his eye. BUT…something strange happened.

His yardage for the game was 316. As a result of that happening…the verse “John 3:16″ is searched that day and Monday over 90 MILLION TIMES according to GOOGLE. God is using Tim to bring glory to his name…and just in case you’ve forgotten WHAT John 3:16 is….

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    That will preach!

Sure we can be the haters and say ‘Tim tone it down’ but the fact is that this man has pledged his life to JESUS, and as a result GOD IS GETTING THE GLORY.

And you know what…SHAME ON ME AND YOU for attempting to cave under the pressure of the world.

We need to be JUST as bold, just as passionate about Jesus as Tim is in his life. Carry Jesus everywhere with you this week. Pray each and everyday that GOD will get the glory through your daily tasks. Pray that God will be made much of.

    LET’S DO THIS!!!!

I was sitting in a waiting room yesterday morning waiting (of course...lol) for my Mom to be taken back for prep for surgery.

We had the unfortunate luck to end up underneath a TV that was obnoxiously loud, and they started talking about this Fellow Tim Tebow (sp?).

My attention was drawn to the topic when they started playing a song set to David Bowie's "Major Tom," to WHich the lyrics had been replaced with something along the lines of...

    "Jesus Christ to Tim Tebow,

    Jesus Christ to Tim Tebow,"

...and I didn't catch the all of the words but it went on...

"This is Jesus Christ to Tim Tebow," and I htink something like "please leave me alone," and something about Sunday being His (Jesus Christ's) day of rest.

So, as far as I am concerned...God bless this guy (Tim Tebow).

The fact that someone took the time to blaspheme Christ because Tim Tebow and the incredible coincidence of his numbers (if it is in fact a "coincidence") has gained national attention makes me believe that the wicked one does not want this "current event" seen in any light other than one to be mocked.

    God bless.

Not only did Tebow pass for 316 yards, his average yardage per pass was 31.6! It is difficult to believe that is a coincidence.

I like Tim Tebow, he is the real deal. We should all pray for him, lots of folks want to see him fall.

I am watching the game tonight and pulling for Tim. And I was never a Broncos fan before.

Does 9/26 for 136 yards sound like the real deal to you now? How about the 6/22 for 60 yards vs the Chiefs in week 17? Listen I love his moxy, his heart and desire, and his drive, but he has below average NFL QB skills. He needs to become an H-back, much like Frank Wychek did with the Oilers/Titans.

9/26 for 136 yards vs. a very pourous D to boot.......

It is the real deal if God is in control. God can use anything He chooses to use, we are to follow His lead no matter what. Even if we do not like the numbers or the loss or the situation.

Praying that not only will non-believers will seek Him, but that believers will give all to Him.

Tebow is a fine young man, but football is vanity and vexation of spirit, as are all sporting events. God has no less interest in another team's victory or loss than He does in the Broncos, and certainly gets no less glory, Tebow's lucky charms, genuflections and the numerology that is now creeping in notwithstanding.

The Chinese peasant imprisoned, tortured and otherwise persecuted for his simple, unimposing faith in Christ truly glorifies God, and does more for the increase of His Kingdom receiving one blow, than do all the 316's and solemn posing on the football field.

Respectfully speaking, I have to pause and think about that. We don't know God's plan for either, nor the results either can/will produce in the sight of God.

    Let's change the scenario.

Pretend "Tim Tebow" was on BB and we all knew of him here. :love2:

Then after his play on the field comes in and asks how he did.

I'm sure he'd get ripped apart, told he needs to be a RB, that he needs to drop his arminianism, or calvinism, or non-calvinism, to stop trying to be a QB, stop his aggrandizing attitude on the field akin to one in a worship service who does the same, and told he just aint that good!

That may well be, but I don't think it is our right nor our place to judge that.

Although I would differ on a couple of details here I think this is an excellent perspective of the situation.

I have been a Denver Broncos fan for years....but I started following
Tim Tebow when he was at Florida, enjoying the facts I was discovering
about the exemplary character and fine testimony of this humble young man. I am thrilled when he was drafted by my team.

I don't care what anyone thinks, he is in the spotlight, and he is using that spotlight to give honor and glory to the Lord, to influence as many people as possible, he uses his talents as a platform for the Lord.

When interviewed after the loss to the Patriots Saturday, when he was asked how he was feeling after the loss, he responded this way: (I am documenting from my memory now)

"It depends on which lens you are looking through. The highlight of my day was shared with Zach (the severely disabled high school football player he hosted at the game that day) and the joy of seeing Zach and his family having a good time - this is what matters to me most today."

Tebow always gives God the glory, win or lose. You cannot dislike a young man who sets this example in a sportsworld of supermodel chasers, drug users, law breakers, extravagant spenders, and generally wasted lives.

He is genuine. We as fellow believers need to stand behind him and not criticize him.

I don't think anyone dislikes Tim Tebow. He appears to be a wonderful young man who truly loves the Lord and wants to glorify Him.

Saying that, he is not so special that his quarterbacking skills are not open to honest evaluation and critique.

As he himself points out there are better ways to measure success.

Has anyone here criticised the person, the character, or the Christian walk of this fine young man?

Since you want to consider his football skills, I can say this: John Elway has stated that he will now work with Tim in the off-season to
help him improve his quarterback skills. Tim is a hard worker; if he can
improve, he will improve. And that D wasn't that pourous on Saturday, my friend....our O line was VERY pourous. Tebow was sacked 5 times, and
    Brady was sacked 0 times.

When I point out his outstanding character traits, comments about his qbacking skills are given in reply. Up til now, I have basically discussed his personal testimony and the effectiveness of his platform, not his passing ratio.

First, let me say I'm not a sports person. Just never got into following and rooting for a particular team or event. Maybe once in a while, keep an eye on playoffs where a local college has a chance of winning, etc.

Right or wrong, this thought has crossed my mind in recent days:

John Doe is a fine Christian, but .........................

The word "but" tends to negate whatever is said before but is put into a sentence.

    For example:
That's a nice car, but ......... (inserting something that doesn't expand on the positive attributes of the car.)

So if were to be said about me, 'Roger is a great Christian, but he stinks at golf' that would negate my Christianity?

    No it wouldn't.

Yet, if often when your Christianity is being praised, people bring into the discussion your golf scores, isn't that bringing in a "but"?

That's what saddens me about this young man. I don't know anything about his abilities to play. It's just that often when his witness is being praised, his playing ability is also down played.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with discussing his skills or lack thereof. That's not my point. Why is there apparently a need to often say:
"Roger is a great Christian, but he stinks at golf."?

I'm still on my first cup of coffee this morning, so I hope what I'm trying to say make sense. :praying:
