On a lighter note. This is not a debate on the last days.
This is for those who already hold that there is in the future a 1000 period of time when Christ will return and rule from earth after the tribulation.

Have you ever thought about this? What will mankind be doing during that time? Will we still be seeking cures for diseases? Will we still be exploring space and seeking new frontiers? Do you believe that life will continue as it is except for the amount of sin being less? What do you think will be different if anything in regards to our activities? How about church/worship, sports, new inventions, how will that change around the world? Will church attendence totally stop? Will all false religions be done away with? What are your thoughts.

An appropriate question would be: How are mortals going to live in the presence of God in His Glory?

A second might be: Is David going to reign as coregent with God as Walvoord claims. [Major Bible Prophecies, page 393]

I believe the 1000 years to be a literal event, with Jesus Christ our leader, as He is forever. I have no idea what our day to day lives will be like. I do know this though, there will not be a Presidential election every four years to decide who is going to be in charge with a couple of degenerate thieves running against each other.

I tend to think that our day to day lives won't be much different than they are now, except for the total theocracy that will be in place. Satan will be bound during this time, but those unsaved who made it through the tribulation will still be able to reproduce, and they will still have a fleshly nature capable of greed, lust, etc. So, sin will still be present, but I daresay it will not be the norm.

We know that there will still be wicked people on the earth, as once Satan is loosed he will be able to gather enough of them for the great war.

We are either in that period now with Christ reigning through his Church but in the early stages of it...

    or...

we are conquering the world through the Gospel and look forward to the thousand years beginning when the church has conquered the world more thoroughly.

That is my understanding of eschatology as taught in Scripture.

You've posted a challenging and thought provoking post. At least for me, anyway. I've never thought much about it beyond believing Christ will return and rule from the earth for a 1000 years. At most, a rather simplist view of Him walking in a new Garden of Eden type setting.

Reading your post and the replies has led me to understand that I don't know enough about what the scriptures have to say about His coming. Once again, as has happened many times over the last two years, Proverbs 2:3-6 and 2 Tim 2:15 come to mind. It's hard to describe... sorta like I've got an outline and now it's time to flesh it out.

This, in turn, has brought all sorts of questions to mind. Some, I know, won't have answers until the day He appears. Some are the result of trying to envision answers to the specific items you've mentioned. And...

Jesus will appear in a bodily form to shield mankind from the total impact of His Glory. Much like His first appearance on earth. That thought brings about more pondering. He appeared as a man who would blend in with those around him at the time. A carpenter, no doubt dressed like a craftsman of that day. Will He appear again in similar fashion of today's ordinary man on the street? Or, will He appear in all the majesty that the common man can withstand?

Will we really be free of all that, since sin will still exist in the world? I'm speculating there'll still be some type of structure to society. Unless everything is changed so that we are indeed in a Garden of Eden environment, there'll still be a need to keep current society functioning. Somebody in place to keep on directing traffic, if you will. Because sin remains, will we still have "degenerate thieves running against each other"? Or, will Christ appoint all those who will be directing daily life's traffic?

What will be the "norm"? Will Jesus stop the breaking of some of the commandments? Will the worst of the sinners, such as child molesters, be destroyed during tribulation, so the level of sin on earth diminish? Then, will history repeat itself, as it builds again until the "great war"?

So many questions, your post has generated. Will modern day communications media still exist? If so, will it still portray the worst of man, as most does now, or will it be changed to show the best of man and of God?

Continue to seek cures for diseases? Yes, No, Maybe. As long as mankind continues to die and be buried, mankind will seek ways to stop it. Will Christ's presence remove the fear of the death of the body?

Church attendance stop? No. However, I believe it will change. The Bible verse, where two or three are gathered, comes to mind. Believers will still assemble. What form that will take is beyond my ability to speculate right now.

False religions? Yes, they'll continue, as they have from the beginning of time, because sin still exists in the world. Mankind is going to make the same mistakes over and over and over again, as history has shown. IMHO, will be that way until the final chapter is complete. And Jesus Christ say's one more time, "It is finished".

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen

I've gotta find another dictionary. Eschatology isn't in Webster's 1828/1913 versions.

So much to learn! Off to find out what we're talking about. :type:

    :wavey:

    Edit: Got it.

Thanks for the opportunity to learn a bit more each day.

You'll continue to learn with that spirit Brother.

I wish I had had that kind of spirit about 17 years ago when I got started in the ministry.

It seems we lack that usually when we are either young or old.

By your name I assume you are the latter. So it is all the more notable that you have that kind of biblical humility.

Thank you for your kind words, Brother.

I'm 66, soon to be 67, Lord willing.

One of the things I most regret is all the years that I've wasted. Years when my memory was sharper than it is today. Years when I could read for hours without getting tired and sleepy. If only I'd been reading the Bible then.

I'm blessed that the Lord brought me back into the fold, almost 2 years ago, after being away so long. And instilled in me a cry for understanding and wisdom that is growing stronger as the days pass.

I can understand your feelings. Most spiritual matters are clearer to me as time goes on. I am about six years behind you in age. However, on the subject of end times, I am more uncertain than ever. When I was younger, I agreed with Hal Lindsey. Over the years, we have had a couple of pastors who did not believe in the pre trib rapture. I really do not know what to think. All I know for sure is that God is in control of it. I wish I had a better idea of the way the events really occur.

I have wondered many times about daily life in the thousand year reign. Does it make a difference whether Christians come through the tribulation or come back with the Lord because they were in fact raptured seven years ago? How is sin treated in this period as compared to now with the Lord in charge? What about our life spans? Where are our saved ancestors during this period? I could go on forever with questions.

Will a salvation experience be the same during this period as it is now, with the Author of Salvation right here in our mist?

Here are some things we know based on scripture as I remember them. I don't think people will have church as we think of it today. The church age saints that return with the Lord will rule over the governments of the world in varying degrees. Prayers will be answerted on the spot.
Man will live longer, sacrifices will restart, the nations will come to worship the Lord once a year, but not be forced to, there will be peace between the animal kingdom and man, things will be put back much like if not just like Eden, temp, weather, and things growing.

The bible describes that God will once again bless the earth bringing it to its former glory of Eden. “For the LORD shall comfort Zion: He will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody” (Isaiah 51:3). The waters will come alive with every type of fish and become one hundred percent pure for drinking, and the land will blossom with an abundant harvest. This will be a time of tremendous agricultural blessing. The earth literally will not be able to receive its bounty (Joel 2:24).

God will change the nature of man so that he will greatly enjoy his labors (Isaiah 65:21-23). No more will a man dread going to his occupation on Monday morning. He will be perfectly suited for the profession he has chosen and will do it with joy. Life will be simpler so I am inclined to believe that we will not have all the seeking of technology and searching in space and such including no more need for medical drugs.

No more wars, no crime, Isaiah 2:2-4 people helping one another, while man will not be sinless he will live in a state of very little sin and restored with a revival type attitude regularly Isaiah 58:7

Also I believe that only believers will enter the millennium as the Lord will put to death those who oppose Him at His return will add to the peace, but as time goes on they will have children who will not believe and by the end of the 1000 years when satan is released he will gather these unbelievers together and they will rise up and try one last time to destroy the King and His kingdom and then the Lord will destroy them all and a new earth and new heavens will be ushered in and there will never again be sin or death.

One last thing and I cannot back this up as it is just something I think will be true. I do not believe that the Lord will be walking around for all to see after He initially sets things up. In the beginning all will see Him but after that I think He will not make many if any appearances. I think He will stay in the temple and people will live by faith somewhat like today.

Some of this I looked around the net and got some ideas and some is just my understanding. Others may find more in scripture.

    Thank you, Freeatlast.

I have to leave for church shortly. When I get back, I'll dig into what you posted. Some of it rang a bell as I read it.

Thanks, too, ahead of time to anyone who adds to Freeatlast's thoughts.
