Any tax people here? If so I have a question. I received an email the other day ago from amazon.com below.

So in my TurboTax software or web based interface do I enter in the $128.99 in the appropriate area?

Also I have deducted every ministry have donated money too on my return. It has resulted in getting more money back for my return.

My understanding is that if a state requires you to pay tax on internet sales and you did not then you must pay the taxes. Come live in Wyoming. We do not have a state income tax, and property taxes are about 1/3 of anywhere else. Sales tax is 6%.

I got a number of replies on the TurboTax message board that I should have checked before posting. But regardless thank you so much for the response. I did report that tax and had to pay $8 in state taxes. How is the job market like in your state? The only thing I fear is freezing in the winter.

Many have come from other states to work in the mines. The economy overall is as though little ever happened. Houses went down for awhile but now they are climbing back up. A few weeks I put a home on the market and it was under contract in one week. The railroad is expected to hire 2000 employees and the mines are making room for 800 more employees. On the average the winter is 8 degrees warmer than South Dakota. I would rather it were colder or much warmer. We see more ice than places like SD because it is warmer.

The summers are great. Last summer the hottest it got was 99. The humidity is low in the summer. Most of the time when it gets that hot it feels like a nice day to me as though it were about 80.

Hmm. I've never lived in the W states. May have to start with Wyoming! When I moved to a state with sales tax, I stood there arguing with the clerk over the price before it was pointed out to me that it was TAX that raised the price of the purchase. It really throws me off, I pretty much stick to shopping on the base here so I can pay the price I see on the shelf! Makes working with money easier.

I hear the Dakota states are good for employment as well.

Some of the lowest unemployment is there as well. I cannot speak for ND but SD has a balanced budget each year. It is not the same for others. I know that during the down time in our economy IA borrowed a lot of money to keep their universities going. When I was in SD, SDSU in Brookings had to cut $150,000 out of about a $90 million budget. The university never noticed the cut. At the same time UNI in Cedar Falls, IA had to cut about $9 million.

Not to change the thread, but I have to say, we drove through Wyoming this summer on the way back to Kentucky from California. That is some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. That is a state I could move to.
