Well that's the question. Regardless of the RNC nominee, is President Obama looking at a successful re-election bid? Your gut instinct.

    Feel free to explain below...:)

At this point I do believe it is very likely that the current President will win again. While he may not be all that popular now that is only because we are in the mist of a republican campaign and the rhetoric is one sided. Once the republican's nominate their candidate and the democrats have their convention I believe that this will all shift in his favor.
The problem with removing him is that the persons seeking to replace him have no more credibility then he does so I say sadly that I do not think the people will boot him out. I am of the persuasion that the only person who might beat him is Rick Santorum and right now it does not look like he will get the nomination.

As of right now I voted yes. The RNC and the media want Romney and they know just how to lead the sheep to the slaughter. Just keep telling the folk that Romney is the only one who can beat Obama and they will get in line like good little obedient children. So as of now, if Romney is the nominee, Obama will have no trouble winning and probably by a good margin as well. Santorum is the only conservative running as of now. Paul is probably a conservative, but also a nut job so that leaves Rick.

Santorum wants to destroy another country based on bold faced lies yet Paul is the nutjob?

    Hmmmm.

I hate to say it but I think Obama will win. Although he's a free spender, he doesn't know how to work with Congress, he insults our allies, but he does know how to campaign. He's been in campaign mode since the jobs speech just after Labor Day. His approval rating is inching up. If the economic recovery were an airplane it is accelerating down the runway and the front wheels are about to leave pavement.

Fear the $1 Billion campaign war chest he has amassed. The Democrats always have the more emotional, more effective advertising. Unless there is a serious misstep, I think he wins again.

Real Clear politics average of all polls gives Obama a 2 point advantage over Romney. Hardly not in the ballpark of Obama having "no trouble wining".

Obam leads in 7 polls, Romney in 2 and two polls have them tied. With a margin of error of usually 3% the elction is wide open. Of course the Electoral College will be a major factor.

    Gingrich.......39.8....vs Obama......51.6.....+ 11.8
    Santorum.....41.1... vs Obama......50.1.....+ 9.0
    Paul............43.0.....vs Obama......47.4.....+ 4.4
    Romney.......45.4.....vs Obama......45.4.....+ 2.0

Yes, but that is now. If Romney comes up against Obama it will be difficult to distinguish the two records under review. So I believe the people will just give Obama the extra time he wants.

Those polls mean nothing. They are based on the Republican candidates ripping each other a new one right now.

Once there IS a Republican candidate with a running mate (who will likely be Rubio) the table will turn and there will be a uniting faction behind that single candidate.

Never before in America's history has a sitting president with the numbers Obama has run ever been reelected. In fact the next couple who were even close to his dismal numbers resigned instead of running again.

Just remember that the press -- who nationally is favorable to Obama for ideological reasons -- are calling the shots right now and the race is playing just as they wished early on. They called Romney 2 years ago and they are making it happen by deciding whom gets the news.

When was the last time you even heard Santorum's name mentioned except at the bottom of a column somewhere? Run him in the top paragraph for 2 weeks and see what his poll numbers do. It would be Herman Cain shocking!

I agree with everthing you said here fredrick, except if it is Romney I won't be ralleying around him. I will do a write in if that is allowed in Pa, if not, I cannot and will not choose the lesser of two evils. Two unbelievers that is.

Y'all have heard the old joke about the guy who had mixed emotions because his mother-in-law had driven off a cliff in his Mercedes?

I want the economy to improve. I want Obama to lose.

But if the economy improves, Obama will win.

See what I mean about mixed emotions?

Santorum is Catholic, and Paul is an Episcopalian. Does you religious standards disqualify those two as well?

Ah, but you will and you know it. Not that you will vote for Romney. I expect that you will not, just as you say. But rather that your vote against Romney will greatly help the greater of two evils regain the White House -- as is always the case with a 3rd party candidate.

I'd love to see a 3rd party candidate run successfully this time, but there is none who can make it. It is already too late in the game, there is no name recognition, and people are inclined (as much as they claim independent status) to vote for the party that they always vote for. We'll end up with another Perot and we'll end up with a dictator Obama.

Well, it isn't "my" religious standard. God is the one who told us not to be yoked together with unbelievers. Asking another person to be your representative is certainly yoking up.

Now Obama says he is a Christian, but his past and current practices would prove him to be lying. Santorum is a Catholic, but I believe that there are true Christians within the catholic church who are ignorant of the bible on many doctrinal points. Romney believes Jesus is a created being, like the JW's, this is flat out unChristian. At least a Catholic acknowledges Jesus is God.

Don't worry, there is no hope of the economy getting better under Obama. He, like the liberal/socialist backlash after the Great Depression, is actively doing everything he can to HINDER the economy that is humanly possible.

There are three things that can actually fix our economy:

    1. Roll back government regulations including Obama-care so that small and large business is free to develop, invent, create, and manufacture what they need to manufacture in order to become profitable. They WILL.

    2. Roll back the corporate and individual tax rates -- stop punishing those who actually work for a living and who create income and wealth --

    3. Stop playing Robin Hood with the wealth and income they create to "buy" voters from the lowest half of the economic scale, none of whom actually pay taxes at all, yet recieve government handouts at every turn.

    Have you seen this?

A few key thoughts from the summary:

I voted no, but it is probably more wishful thinking than a "gut feel".

IMO, Obama still has a huge ground swell of popularity among those who believe he can do no wrong (you know, It's all Bush's fault).

Plus, the Republican party has been committing suicide by the self destructive (personal attack rather than issue oriented) debates, giving the Democrats a huge stock pile of ammunition against any of the current candidates.

Add to that the up and coming statistical manipulation to show a betterment of our economic status (unemployment stats, housing etc) the probable plummet of gas prices as the election draws near, the October surprise, etc, etc...

Finally, there is 1 Billion dollar DNC propaganda campaign egg which is about to be hatched and diseminated by the glazed eyed press/media upon we the sheeple.

Unless there is some one other than the current opponent(s) showing up on the horizon, President Obama will win another term.
