    Moriah's reply:

There were Jews who were trying to get the Galatians to follow the Jewish laws of observing special days, and months, and times and years. The Galatians, who were once Pagans, had also at one time followed special days and times for their type of worship. The Pagans to this day observe Winter Solstice, and Summer Solstice, for examples.

Paul was telling them not to go back to those ways, the ways of those people who are zealous to win them over, those are the people who are trying to get the Galatians under the law.

Read on to Galatians 17 and on.

17 Those people are zealous to win you over, but for no good. What they want is to alienate you from us, so that you may have zeal for them. 18 It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always, not just when I am with you. 19 My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, 20 how I wish I could be with you now and change my tone, because I am perplexed about you!
    Hagar and Sarah
21 Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? 22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23 His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.

Then it is evil to use the conventional names to refer to the days of the week? We go to church on the day of the Sun God? Others of the Day of Saturn?

Do you think that the Pagans invented everything?
    Billwald,
Keep looking heavenward. Why look to and consider things that mean nothing?

The early Friends thought so. That's why they referred to Sunday as "First Day" and so on.

That is not what Gal.4 is speaking about Moriah. Just let scripture interpret scripture.

GAL.4 [8] Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.[9] But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?[10] YE OBSERVE DAYS, AND MONTHS, AND TIMES, AND YEARS.[11] I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

DEUT.18 [9] When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, OR AN OBSERVER OF TIMES, or an enchanter, or a witch,[11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

Seems to be speakin of those who use horoscopes

2 CHR.33 [3] For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.[4] Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.[5] And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.[6] And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: ALSO HE OBSERVED TIMES, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger

Looks like the occult. Witchcraft, wizards and the such

LEV.19 [26] Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, NOR OBSERVE TIMES.[27] Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.[28] Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.[29] Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.[30] YE SHALL KEEP MY SABBATHS, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

I guess this scripture says it all. You shall not observe times BUT you will keep my sabbaths.

We do observe the Sabbath now. Jesus is our Sabbath. Sabbath does mean "rest", right? When we observe Jesus, we observe our Sabbath, just not one special day.

    Hebrews 4
1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Now, I am talking about our souls. When God saves our souls, we are at rest inwardly, meaning we don't worry about our soul's condition anymore. The flesh will enter into this rest when Jesus returns to take us home.

What a low estimation of Christ you have!

In fact, you reduce Him and bring Him down to the level of an object of your superstitious veneration; whether you realise it or not, you are committing idolatry, making Christ your "Sabbath".

Christ is not your Sabbath or mine or anybody's! Do not insult our Saviour, and that without ANY regard for his Holy Word which NOWHERE says such a vile thing.

I am of the mind you are just proud and showing off with your religion, spiritualising away God's plain and realistic requirements for the life of the Body of Christ's Own in this world so full of mystic cults of 'inner experience' religions. Because to make Jesus Christ someone's Sabbath Day could just as well be a Hindu or satanic concept or ‘meditation’. Yes, like the black sabbath of the satanists. You want to 'spiritualise' things; so do it consistently, a 'Christ-sabbath' is as much a 'sabbath-Christ' as a=2 = 2=a.

See what I said?! Denying what the Scriptures you quoted in practice say, you make their subject matter - the Faith of Christ for his CHURCH - something NOT IN THE LEAST different than the mystic religions of PAGANISM, namely, something that has nothing in it for the CHURCH but only for yourself; and nothing in it for you to do in the land of the living as a Christian man and member of Christ's Body, but only for your 'soul'!

What have you quoted those Scriptures for? To ridicule them?

... for that was exactly what the Galatians did when they "RETURNED BACK" to their "former weak and beggarly principles" or OBJECTS which "ye worship : days, months. seasons, years" --- the exact, four, heathen "stoicheia" or "principles" or 'god's of time' of the ancient Greeks, historically with Galatia the hub of that cultic "wisdom" or "philosophy" and the VERY THINGS that Paul warned against in both Galatians and Colossians.

Now reckon, those "former weak and beggarly principles", some people like you, identify with the Sabbath Day of the Bible, which you then JUST SO AGAIN IDENTIFY with the Jesus and Christ whom you serve and worship so intensely subjectively with your whole "soul". I am sure you have never thought about it in its stark reality ...

    Exactly Chowman!

That word translated "observe", is an exclusively special Greek word for exactly the things you emphasized here, namely, the word "paratehreoh".

Brother, you need some new glasses if you saw this in my post. I have mot reduced Jesus one iota. I have exhalted Him because He is our rest. In Him we have peace, in the world we have troubles, trials, and temptations. In Him we have perfect peace.

He may not be yours(you're words, not mine), but He is mine.

I am proud of nothing other than being His. I boast in the Lord, not in myself, thank you. If you want to believe that Jesus isn't your sabbath, go right on ahead. It's none of my business if your sabbath is a cow named Elsie.

Matt. 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Your choice if you don't believe this.....

    Take your own advice.
It is about observing special day, for Pagans do observe special days and seasons.
The Sabbath is a shadow of what was coming, Jesus Christ. Observing special days are a shadow of what was coming, He came, Jesus Christ. Observing special days does not save you. Jesus Christ saves.

Amen. We do not do what we want according to the flesh, we do what Jesus tells us to do. Jesus is our Sabbath rest.

Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Isaiah 28:12 to whom he said, "This is the resting place, let the weary rest"; and, "This is the place of repose"--but they would not listen.

John 7:37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.

Jews who were trying to tell them that they must observe special days in order to be saved visited the Galatians. Paul had to form Christ in the Galatians again, because they fell from grace when the Judaisers misled them.

My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you, Galatians 4:19. The Galatians needed Paul to go through again what he had already done with them before, and that is to form Christ in them again.

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Galatians 5:4. Here Paul tells us we could fall from grace.

To think a day saves you is a weak and beggarly principle. Jesus Christ saves.

    HEBREWS 4

[1] Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.[2] For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.[3] FOR WE WHICH HAVE BELIEVED DO ENTER INTO REST, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. [4] For he spake in a certain place of THE SEVENTH DAY on this wise, And GOD DID REST THE SEVENTH DAY from all his works.[5] And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

They which actually believe do enter into His rest. Which rest is being spoken of? Verse 4 tells us its the rest of the 7th day. That’s Gods sabbath day alright.

[6] Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:[7] Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Some, to whom it was first preached had the spirit of unbelief and did not enter the sabbath rest (Ezek.20). They were destroyed.

[8] For IF JESUS HAD GIVEN THEM REST, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.[9] THERE REMAINETH THEREFORE A REST to the people of God.

You’ve heard the many say “Jesus is my rest”. Well…verse 8 contradicts that? Anyways the rest (sabbath) remains. Ive heard “the many” say verse 9 is speaking of the 1000 yr period of rest. That rest has not yet arrived, so how could it remain? Another thing that bothers me is the fact that many of the new books have changed the name of Jesus to Joshua. Why? What are they trying to hide? Plain to see. The "many" claim Jesus is their rest, while the bible (verse 8) says quite the opposite. Thus the need for the change of names

[10] For HE THAT IS ENTERED INTO HIS REST, he also hath ceased from his own works, AS GOD DID FROM HIS. [11] Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Of course the above verses are speaking of the sabbath. Enter into the rest as God also did. Verse 4 says God entered into rest on the seventh day. The sabbath. Verse 11 says we are to enter into that very same rest.

Ive seen pages and pages written about above scriptures trying to explain that it doesnt really mean what it says. Just believe what it says and enter into the rest GOD created for us. The rest that sanctifys us and sets believers apart from those with the spirit of unbelief, like those who were destroyed in the wilderness (Ezek.20).
