Here is a fail safe means of knowing when someone is filled with the Holy Spirit when they are talking with you.

Jesus never misunderstood anything said by those with whom He conversed. As well, when The Disciples were filled with The holy Spirit in Acts Ch. 2 and became The Apostles thereafter they never misunderstood anything said by anyone. An example of this Divinely empowered kind of understanding is shown in the resolution of the Doctrinal issues between Apostles Paul and James in Acts Ch. 21. The difficult issues were quickly outlined, and the solution agreed upon by all concerned.

The other procedural and strategic discrepancies experienced by Apostles Paul, Timothy, Mark, Barnabus, and others were not because of any misunderstanding or misperception, but were because of differences of mind and priorities well understood by all. Godly men can disagree and still understand each other quite well.

So, whenever a person to whom we are speaking in a shared language misunderstands anything we say, even after they have asked clarifying questions, it is because they are not filled with the Holy Spirit as were Jesus and The Apostles, none of whom ever misunderstood anything said to them. This is so simple to do. Just speak with a person long enough to verify their comprehension about what we say, answer their questions, and then we can easily know if they are filled with The Holy Spirit.

This technique avoids the problem of large variations in interpreting Scripture, and the tricky idea of whether or not our spirit witnesses with their spirit.

Praise God our Creator for the capacities we have to observe and communicate with our spiritual brothers and sisters, and to identify those who are not walking in The Spirit.

    1 John 4
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Hogwash. You discount those who are unable to understand because of diminished mental capacity, those who are babes in Christ, and others.

    Plain-n-simple has it right.

(Acts 9:26) When [Paul] came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.

Trolls are like stray animals. Feed them and they stick around wanting more.

Balogny! We know someone is filled with the Holy Spirit when they exhibit the Fruits of the Spirit:

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Which one of these are you exhibiting?

bible clearly tells us surefire tests on this issue!

one way is that they would show genuine love for/towards the bethren
Desire to have fellowship in local assembling of the bethren
Strive to be odedient to the word of God
have good fruit in their lives produced by the Holy spirit

nothing really involving having 'perfectrevelation" reveltion of the bible and its doctrines!

One time, many years ago, I was out with another young man (Yes, I was young then--in my 20's) knocking on doors and witnessing, when w came across a couple working in their yard. As we approached them, I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit SO strongly that I felt foolish asking the question, "Are you saved." I got the answer I expected and just KNEW that I would hear, "Yes, we are." I have never felt the Holy Spirit so strongly in others as I did then.

That same day we stopped at a house where I felt another power equally strong--evil--when the male owner answered the door. That evil presence emanating from that man left me feeling very ill, and I had to quit and go home.

Believe it or not, those experiences actually happened to me.

That's awesome Jon-Marc, you got a word of knowledge it looks like. The other experience, I've had too. Very strange feeling, not good.

Many years ago my dad stopped to help a stranded motorist and the couple asked if he was a Christian because they had been praying that someone would stop to help them. They assumed that because he stopped that he was a believer. My dad is not a Christian.

    There are several reasons your statement cannot be true;

    1. As someone posted earlier the person you are talking to may not have the background or mental ability to understand.

    2. You are making the statement that you are always right and never in error. They may have replied to you with the truth, but you did not accept that truth.

    3. Perhaps the reason you are misunderstood is that you are not filled with the Holy Spirit and the other person is filled.

    4. There is shared language, but not necessarily shared expressions. You may use an expression they are totally unfamiliar with and so they do not understand. The opposite is also true.

For instance if you are in New England and some asks you, "Are you liberal or conservative theologically?" That question carries a very different meaning than if you are asked the same question in the South.
