    I just voted. My mother called me and asked if I wanted to ride with them to the polls so they and my handicapped brother came to my house and picked me up.

    They can't vote in the today's election as they are registered independents. But my brother is a Republican.

    I voted for Santorum. I know that I will probably not be voting for him in November. Who I will be voting for then - I don't know. I prayed while I cast my ballot. I prayed for God to rescue our nation.

    What a good post. Our primary is in May, and I cannot vote, because of being a member of the Constititution Party. I was a Republican until last year. I think there is a bill in our legislature to allow crossing over in primaries. Amen to your prayer, please spare us from Romney and Obama, although it is probably exactly what we deserve.

    Fortunately, in my state you don't have to register as a member of any particular party to vote in the primary. You just go in, mark on your card which party you are choosing to vote with at that time, and cast your vote.

    Great job on making your voice heard when it counts. :) Kudos to you!

    Ya'll go to the polls on Saturday??? Our bean counters don't work on the weekends. :D

    I voted the same as you Scarlett only I'm hoping I get to vote the same in November. A vote for Romney will only get us an Obama with lighter skin.

    I think all elections in Louisiana are on Saturday except those that are mandated by federal law to be held on Tuesday.

    I didn't vote because I'm not a registered Republican anymore and the primary is closed to party members only. (I think that's how it should be, actually. In 2008 McCain was helped by cross-party voting and Romney appears to have been helped by it in some of the early states as well.)

    I totally disagree. If only party members were allowed to vote that would leave the half of us who are in the middle between parties without a vote and thus without representation. I reserve my right to vote for who I believe is the best candidate for the office regardless of party membership. My ticket is ALWAYS split, because neither party has the best interests of the country at heart anymore. All they care about is the best interest of the party.

    You don't seem to understand what a political party is. It is (at least in theory) a group of people with similar ideals for governing the country. As in any church - there is not complete agreement on every single issue. But there should be a general consensus of candidates. For example in State elections - the candidate for Governor and the several Senate candidates should have a general agreement on major issues.
    Keep in mind - voting in a primary is not a true election. It is simply the way that people with similar issues are able to speak with a united voice. Your representation is based on the elected official - not a candidate.

    My suggestion - get involved with a political party (closest to your beliefs) and then you will have a say in who runs for office. Try it, you will like it.

    The problem is when you have two "official" parties that get special treatment, automatic ballot access, etc., it disenfranchises a huge group of people. The whole "group think" idea behind the two party system, that says we should be pigeonholed into one of two groups, flies in the face of everything this country stands for...
