New requirement for the S A T's

The College Board, the entity that administers the SAT test, is not a government entity. Since they are a private entity they can institute any rules they want. It is not a constitutional right to take a SAT test. There is no reason for SCOTUS to get involved.

I know people who cheated on the SAT's by having someone else take the test for them.

I have zero problem with this. The fact that a person could be accepted into a college they shouldn't be getting into, and possibly getting some time of tuition assistance because of their score...well, it needs to be fair.

I had a mediocre GPA in HS. But I scored pretty high on my SAT's. I was able to get a little more tuition assitance because of that, but had I scored lower I probably wouldn't have because my HS GPA wasn't all that impressive. This could literally cost a kid who is deserving of assistance to not get it, if the cheating is as bad as they say it is.

 

I was 90% sure it was what you were referring to. But there is no law that can compel a business owner to sell something to anyone.

 

Why would a business owner need to give a reason?

 

As bad as it sounds...depending on the type of business...a small business owner can get away with anything, and their response can be "because I didn't want too"...and that's usually good enough.

 

You've mentioned that you work at a Ford dealership selling vehicles. Has the store ever NOT sold a vehicle to someone? Of course they've declined to sell vehicles to people, usually it's related to price, but it doesn't have to be. The law can't force a person to sell something.

 

Pretty much, that's it. If I decided I didn't want to sell to someone and they objected and raised a stink about it, I'd simply say, "I didn't like their attitude." End of story. Restaurants and night clubs turn people away all the time.

It is being pointed out that pictures for proof of ID are used to take an SAT test...

Yep. Small businesses can get away with this basically with no issue. If you run one, you have to decide if for whatever reason you do turn someone away, will it be worth it?
