"Will Christians who support war come to their senses, now that they find that they support financing a criminal gang that profoundly violates their family values? Or will they consider Afghanistan's pervasive pederasty merely another instance of "collateral damage"?"
...the American taxpayer is ... subsidizing a culture that forces young boys into slavery of the most sordid and squalid sort -- ...

When did Afghanistan become rotten? Did you support the invasion at the start or have you always been against this war?

Afghanistan has been rotten for several hundred years. On the other hand, they have never been successfully occupied by a foreign country.

I think we need to get out of Afghanistan. It never really was a truly unified nation, the so-called "national" leaders are corrupt, and we have not been (nor probably ever will) able to change the Afghan way of life to be anything that even remotely resembles a Western-style democracy.

The war in Afghanistan has proven to be our nation's longest war, and we have very little to show for the years that we've sacrificed some of our nation's finest men and women, not to mention the millions of dollars we've spent in propping up a corrupt, self-serving regime in Kabul.

We need to get out, and the sooner the better.

I agree but sadly enough those who benefit the most are also the ones who have been forming our foreign policy for years. I'm talking about the global corporations and the private international central bankers who finance them.

Agreed. Big mistake on Afghanistan and Iraq. Big mistake to keep sending foreign aid to Pakistan and Egypt, too. All for nothing. Waste.

Not a big mistake. The purpose was a gas pipe line and increased opium production. Mission accomplished.

Really? There still is no Trans-Afghanistan Pipeline. It wouldn't have benefitted the US in any case.

"The primary objective became to disrupt, and if possible destroy, the al Qaeda network in Afghanistan." - Done

"Ultimately, the objective of the Bush Administration was to deny al Qaeda the sanctuary and support it enjoyed in Afghanistan." - Done

"The Bush Administration wanted Osama bin Laden and other al Qaeda leaders killed, captured, or on the run so they would not be able to plan and execute additional terrorist attacks." - Done
    Source

The Taliban itself has never been a threat to the US, only the Al Qaeda who trained and sheltered there. So we could say mission accomplished a long time ago.
