And when we previously had a colder than normal winter these same global warmists were telling us that there is a difference between weather and climate.

I figured that if Crabtownboy started a thread about the weather, that global warming would be the underlying premise.

    Liberals??????

Next winter we will likely freeze our keisters off and THAT will be 'more evidence of "global warming"'. GW has about as much and as credible "scientific" evidence as evolution does.

We did, we had over 20 inches of snow on January 18th, 2012 at my house with more the next 3 days, this was followed by many sub-freezing frost days during the next couple of months along with some sleet and freezing rain days thrown in for good measure.

Very unusual for the Pacific NW.

    Interesting isn't it.

Well the global warming models predicted that when we have storms they will often be more severe than prior to the warming.

Check how the severe storms have increased in number the last few years.

We had only one day of any ice here and that is very unusual as previously, say from the 1970's to 2990's the creeks often froze over for weeks at a time. I remember in the 70's when ice-breakers had to be called in to open the Bay.

This winter was more like a long, long, long autumn.

Specific locations will vary, but overall this was a very warm winter.

ROFL, so you want exact predictions? Even the bird with his/her head in the sand know it is getting warmer. And you use a 5 year old quote.

Well, you know, if you look far enough you can find a quote to support anything you want. After all there are still flat-earthers around. The Flat Earth Society still exists. I am sure they are looking for members.

Since the 1970's is too short of a time to know if there has been warming or not relative to time since the creation of the world.

Try telling that to people in Europe.

It was not the warmest winter on record for the entire world. Europe had a very cold winter. Friends in Prague tell me it was quite warm until January and then it became very cold.

Note that all temperature periods were above the 20th century average.

"The combined average temperature over global land and ocean surfaces for February 2012 was the 22nd warmest on record and the coolest since 2008, at 12.47°C (54.57°F), which is 0.37°C (0.67°F) above the 20th century average of 12.1°C (53.9°F).

Separately, the global land surface temperature was 0.38°C (0.68°F) above the 20th century average of 3.2°C (37.8°F), making this the 37th warmest February on record and the coolest February since 1994. It was also the coolest month on record since January 2008."

    There we have it then.

Crabby has proved that global warming has been reversed and we are now entering into a period of global cooling.

If all of the scientists who believe in Global Warming and the reporters who make such a deal of it would stop breathing CO2 into the atmosphere the "problem" would cease to be.

I heard an interesting opinion on the radio the other day.

A scientist said that if the global warming crowd gets their way that the oxygen level in the atmoshphere could drop.

Plants make oxygen and plants need CO2.

The less CO2 the less plants.

The less plants the less oxygen.

    Hi CTB,

Yes interesting because as such news comes along it is really all about the up and coming Cap and Trade Tax.

I don't doubt that we are having unusual climate change and I don't doubt that mankind might have even exacerbated the situation with environmental pollution.

However the degree of the problem related to mankind and environmental pollution can not easily be determined.

In spite of the intimidating propaganda, in all probability solar activity has played the biggest role in climate change not humankind.

OTOH, I am all for "green" energy. Burning fossil fuel is generally not a good thing and we definitely need to develop new less toxic energy producing methods.

RE:Green Funding - My suspicions are aroused however on the Cap and Trade approach (The Tax on Thin air and Pay your Fair Share Carbon Footprint Tax) ala Al Gore.

A tax which most likely would have the greatest amount of funds going to the administration of the Cap and Trade bureaucracy - more good-old-boyism, quid-pro-quoism, thievery, waste, incompetence and blunderings (i.e. Solyndra) etc.

Just another sheep fleecing colossal tax (I calculated what my own would be) at approximately $3000/per annum per taxpayer added on to the oppressive burden we are already carrying not to mention the promise of the president under Cap and Trade (CT) that "utilities will necessarily skyrocket" (We are already seeing that promise come true with gasoline prices - a transportation utility commodity).

So how would you like to see a new chapter in the IRS 1040 Booklet entitled Green Energy Tax Section (or something to that effect)?

Obama is already expanding the IRS work force (approx 17000 agents) to accomodate the CP tax (and the new Health Care Tax).

Another $3000 added to your tax bottom line (don't worry it will be figured into your pay cycle withholding amount).

The solution is with the private sector - the government's role should be to de-regulate, give tax incentive and reward to the energy industry to invent solutions - not the creation of another wasteful and incompetent Frankenstein bureaucracy which the already over-taxed citizen must fund.

If we have a major drought this year (which occassionally happens in the course of climate events) or even an especially hot summer expect more hysterics and hand-wringing in the news designed to give support to the Cap and Trade Tax.
