ANY here read from the new American bible NAB?

    They recently revised the Old Testament. The New Testament doesn't read so smoothly...sort of like the ESV in that regard. For roman catholic Americns it is very popular. All the esential doctrines are there for Protestants as well.

    I once had a RCC bible in that version, would you say OK to use to study from?

    My version had 'critical" notes that reflected liberal theology, but text itself seemed fine...

    What OT text basing their OT translation from?

    I have the Catholic Study Bible, Second Edition in that translation. I'm not sure what text was used for the OT translation (I'm guessing Masoretic), but IIRC (I'm at work right now), they will mention the Vulgate and the Septuagint in their notes, if there are variants. Genesis 4:8 in particular comes to mind.

    I use it as a comparitive translation, and if I want to read one of the Deuterocannoicals in a more modern translation (as opposed to the Douay-Rheims, which I also have).
