Are Voter ID Laws racist or reasonable? Please not only vote but give a detailed explanation of your answer.

Reasonable, who doesn't have an ID? Given the ease by which one can corrupt the system (the scene sat week where someone presented themselves as Eric Holder and got a ballot) necessitates more through systems.

Reasonable, not only is it not difficult to get an ID card, but it is also not that expensive. They even have reduced fee ID cards in Florida, where if you prove you have a low enough income, they only charge $7 instead of the usual $26. Senior citizens don't even have to pay.

It is reasonable just as it is to require ID for anything else. If the Democrats really were concerned about citizens being able to vote then they would work to make sure proper ID was available rather than screaming about not having to have them. This most certainly shows their motive that they want illegals to vote for them.

Racist because there is no law requiring that new births be registered with the government.

What does one have to do with the other?

I still fail to see how this is racist.

You have to be a US Citizen to vote, and we're long past the era of just taking someone's word when they say something.

Its not a good idea to let old Bill derail threads. By his own admission he says things just to get a rise out of people. He is probably best left to himself.

I'm just curious for anyone to tell me why it's racist at all.

I've done enough forum posting over the years that unless I get to know a specific poster very well, I take everything with a grain of salt.

I personally think we shoud be required to carry ID on us at all times, and that deportation should be a larger priority.

But at the very least, if you want to vote, then you need to prove that you are legal to vote. I fail to see how that is the least bit racist...unless somehow it's racist towards every living American (which that doesn't make sense either).

It is not racist anymore that there is a war on women by the GOP. It is a false crisis created by the left in order to further their agenda. They do not really believe it is racist but if, like the pharisees of Jesus time, they can get the masses stirred up then they can further their agenda to allow illegal voters so they can get their agenda's put through that would not otherwise make it in the light of day.

It's not racist to require voter ID to vote. However, it is a false crisis created by the right to further their agenda.

The only ID I have is an expired driver license. I no longer drive and won't be renewing it, but I do need to get some form of up-to-date photo ID--but why I don't know.

Well, not that you specifically do, but there are products that when you buy them you have to be a certain age.

And that's not just limited to things like alcohol and cigarettes. If you were to ever aquire any type of loan you'd need proof of who you are.

What if you have to go to the Doctor?

It would only be racist if only specific demographic groups are asked to produce an I.D. I don't think that's what is being talked about, though. I really think it's reasonable. I think it's silly that it's even an issue. You have to have ID to cash a check, buy beer or smokes.

The right is not the one making the claim it is racist. The right is merely defending the need for voter ID.

Yeah, and I don't think there is a need. I've asked for documentation of voter fraud many times and have scarcely gotten a response. Voter photo ID is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Not saying it could exist on a small scale, but I have yet to see an example where it threw an election or warrants an intrusive government regulatory agency to administer a new program.

The other thing is, supposing there were photo voter ID laws. In today's photoshop, computerized world, don't you think someone could get a fake ID in less than an hour?

These activities are not a guaranteed constitutional right. Voting is a right.

It is not a guaranteed right to vote without an ID.

Voter fraud, while not a big deal on a regular basis, if it happens once, is a huge deal. Simple as that. If one person votes who was not registered/legal to vote, and that could've been prevented by showing a valid ID, then we should all show an ID to vote. It's simple as that.

Will people use fake I.D.'s, etc? Sure, but that doesn't change that we should have to show an ID at the polls.
