Would you help me identify the famous minister?

Several years ago I attended a worship where the following illustration on the subject of family neglect was mentioned. One pretty famous, renowned evangelist (preacher, minister, etc.) was very passionate about spreading Christianity; however, while being abroad on one of his regular missionary trips, he learned that his daughter had committed suicide (or tried to do that). I wanted to read his bio, but forgot his name. I do not have any more information about the minister. And it is my assumption that he was famous because, while listening to the story, I caught myself on the thought that I had heard or read about him before.
Are you familiar with the story? If so, what is the minister's name?
