This has been discussed in the past, but I am wondering if someone would list the qualifications of a pastor in common language?

be saved, filled with the Holy Spirit, walking with the lord daily basis, Husband of 1 wife, raising kids in fear and admonistion of the Lord...

Showing evidence of fruit of the Spirit, not a new convert, one wise in ways of God...

And be officially called of/by the Lord in that capacity, with a shepherds heart!

Ok. I know I Tim. spells it out. I was just wanting someone to put it into common language. But nevermind.

    I Tim. 3
1This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

    NASB
It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do. 2 An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not addicted to wine or pugnacious, but gentle, peaceable, free from the love of money. 4 He must be one who manages his own household well, keeping his children under control with all dignity 5 (but if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of the church of God?), 6 and not a new convert, so that he will not become conceited and fall into the condemnation incurred by the devil. 7 And he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he will not fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

Mark Chappell was a youth pastor in CT in the 80s.

He left that church, and moved on to his father's church in Long Beach, CA.

When he left there, he started a church in Phoenix, AZ.

People in his church have started to learn about his past. He has kicked a deacon out of his church now because the deacon is questioning his qualification to be a pastor.

The thread below was written by a person who was a teen at the church in Wallingford, CT while Mark Chappell was the youth pastor. He was witness to what occurred in the church.

This information has been shared on public forums in AZ, but Chappell has been able to have it removed.

How long are Christians going to keep silent about the men who are destroying Baptist churches from the inside?

Each Indepdent Baptist church is different. The culture of "touch not the Lord's annointed" gave many IFB pastors a cover to do unspeakable things. Fortunately, the information suprhighway is exposing these scandals and cover-ups.

Mark does not fit the qualifications of the pastor given in the Bible and out to permanently lose his position in the churches.
