    As the Bible States that All and ONLY the saints have Him in them, when and how did He come to dwell in you?

    I was given the Holy Spirit on May 18, 1963 when I called on the Lord for forgiveness and salvation. God's word says that if we don't have the Holy Spirit, then we are not one of His.

    John 14:15,16 If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

    John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

    You have to ask yourself the question; Why, why will the Comforter not come unless Jesus goes away?

    Hebrews 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off,
    Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

    To Christ and Christ only are the promises of God made, that is Christ the seed of Abraham and also David, the only begotten Son of God.
    Even Abraham himself to whom the promises were made with the one seed has yet to receive the promises yet his seed the Son of God has inherited them.

    Before the Holy Spirit could be received, Jesus himself said he had to go away. Go away where? He had to die. Can a dead man inherit anything? What would have to happen for one who has died to inherit anything, except death?

    Now all, every single man and woman which includes the first living soul man called Adam and the woman taken from his and all born of woman since that time have been rotten to the core, sinful living souls. All that is except one, and he called his name Jesus the Christ, the one who knew no sin, yet was made sin for us. He was paid the wages of sin for man, he died.

    Here is a promise which was made by God, who cannot lie, before he created the man who would be so degenerate.

    hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

    For whom, does anyone think that promise might have been made.

    You have the promise of the Holy Spirit/Ghost in three verses in KJV.
    Just who was the first said to have received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father?

    Bingo, you got it, Jesus Christ.

    Then it could be shed on his disciples.

    Paul's question to the elect.

    Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

    Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through the faith; and that not of yourselves: the gift of God:

    Somewhere above is, "grace through the faith," and neither initially had a thing to do with you, it was the work of God that brought about eternal salvation.

    Hebrews 5:8,9 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

    I believe the Word of God says if one says they received the Holy Spirit any other way they do not know what they are speaking of.

    John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

    Thank you Lord Jesus Christ.

    I don't know the exact date but it was January 1973. I was just 7, turning 8 that year.

    How did you receive the HS and how sure are you that it is the HS that you received during that very moment?

    In the Orthodox Christian Church, we receive “the seal of the gift of the Holy Spirit”, during our Chrismation…If baptism is our personal participation in Easter, the death and resurrection of Christ, then Chrismation is our personal participation in Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit upon us.

    That's my story, too, Ann.

    I believe that when God saves you, you get all the Holy Spirit you're going to get. You can't get more in a subsequent "baptism."

    Now, we get all the Holy Spirit we're going to get, but the Holy Spirit doesn't necessarily get all of us. The scriptures are clear that we may asked for the Spirit's power and his fullness. We may grieve the Spirit and quench Him, yet the scriptures are clear that we are permanently sealed when we are saved. (Ephesians 1:13, 4:30)

    Somebody may ask, what about I Cor 12:13 (we are baptized by the Spirit into one body)? That's water baptism, but if somebody wants to debate that, let's do it on another thread, not here.

    Simply put, if you're saved, then you have the Holy Spirit. If you don't have the Holy Spirit, then you're not saved.

    I must have misread the OP, I though the question was how it came about the Holy Spirit came from God the Father to man through the Son.

    Greetings Yeshua1,
    I do not have the Holy Spirit as a separate entity. I have received the preaching of the gospel, the word of God and have believed this gospel and been baptised by immersion into the death and resurrection of Christ Acts 8:5,12. This I believe is the "Spirit" of Christ in my mind and heart.

    Kind regards
    Trevor

    Is that a sort of claim based on what you understand from what you read in the bible?

    Is it just that simple, how do you know if you are really saved in the first place?

    The Sacrament of Chrismation, sometimes also referred to as, confirmation…is the holy mystery by which a baptized person is granted the gift of the Holy Spirit through the anointing with oil…The oil used is called, holy chrism or myrrh, which is prepared by the bishops of the Church on Holy Thursday, which occurs during Holy Week. Chrismation is a onetime act, same as Baptism and the Sacrament of Chrismation is administered by a priest immediately after Baptism…the person, regardless of age is anointed with the oil on the forehead, chest, eyes, ears, lips, hands and feet.

    You will believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh.

    You will believe that Christ is the only way to God.

    You will have a deep desire for the things of God.

    You will love the brethren.

    You will produce spiritual fruit.

    You will hate sin.

    You will be disciplined by God when you sin.

    You will run to God for forgiveness of sin.

    You will love God's word.

    You will use the spiritual gifts God has given you.

    You will delight in your relationship with God.

    I could probably come up with more, but that's a good start.

    As someone else asked, you don't believe the Holy Spirit is a person? Instead you put the word Spirit in quotes as if it isn't really anything?
